This is an onsite role with 9 day fortnight arrangement on offer.

Role Description:

This is an onsite role based at Adelaide / Melbourne.

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will apply systems engineering expertise across requirements, architecture, integration, and verification activities for complex multidisciplinary systems. All Systems Engineering activities will comply with BAE Systems Engineering Lifecycle as specified in the Business Management System (BMS). The role requires a proactive, delivery-focused approach, taking ownership of technical issues and applying structured problem solving to drive outcomes.

You will work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams, project leadership, customers, and subcontractors. Clear communication, stakeholder engagement and a professional, collaborative approach are essential to progressing work in complex engineering environments.

Core Duties:

  • Perform analyses to define and characterise the system and its components
  • Use domain, discipline and Systems Engineering understanding to ensure enabling, supporting and delivered products robustly and demonstrably meet their requirements and are fit for purpose
  • Develop work statements and technically manage suppliers
  • Participate in ensuring that the design meets all statutory regulatory requirements
  • Develop and execute system tests and agree component tests which will ensure that the implemented designs conform to their specifications
  • Maintain the design and its documentation in accordance with the applicable configuration management, change management and traceability processes
  • Provide Engineering status and metrics reporting
  • Apply Model Based Systems Engineering processes, tools and techniques
  • Participate in system design and subsystem partitioning to achieve robust modular architectures

Essential Skills:

  • A University degree level engineering qualification preferably within a Systems, Electronics, Software or Mechatronics discipline
  • Significant experience within the Engineering discipline with demonstrated experience in the technical development and Systems Design of engineering projects
  • INCOSE CSEP certified (desired)
  • Good understanding of Systems Engineering practices and Engineering methods as applied to the development of military equipment and services
  • Experience in effective use of Engineering Process, Methods, Tools and Infrastructure
  • A good understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering processes, methods and tools
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
  • Defence security clearance NV1 or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
