About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a new opportunity for an Isolation Technician to join the Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) program based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the High-Risk Lead on a Fixed Term contract to 30 June 2027, with potential for the role to be extended.

You will be accountable for the management of correct isolations of systems and equipment in accordance with established procedures for Platform Installer on DCE vessels. This role includes a high degree of integration with the DCE Operations team, computer-based work including administering the isolation and permit management systems and responsible for the day-to-day implementation of isolations for DCE activities.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia including a 9-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and provision Isolation documentation to enable production teams and contractors to conduct works.
  • Administering the electronic Permit to Work and isolation management system
  • Meet Isolation requirements whilst ensuring a safety-first culture and safe systems of work
  • Be available to undertake off-site isolations or training deployments.
  • Partner with teams to ensure all isolations are issued in line with delivery requirements.
  • Ensure processes are best practice and appropriate for our environment
  • Participate in a customer centric “one team” culture, improving employee engagement, collaboration, and teamwork, especially where it relates to the High-Risk Team.
  • Perform audit and governance activities related to isolations
  • Optimise performance through embedding a continuous improvement culture.

About YOU

  • Hold a relevant trade qualification (Preferred)
  • Prior experience working as a Naval Technician (Desirable)
  • Solid experience working with computer-based systems (Mandatory)
  • Administering electronic permit management system/s (Highly Desirable)
