Responsibilities

· Reviews operations to ensure proper safety practices are complied with and corrective actions are initiated where appropriate.

· Implements and maintains a ship and ship maintenance facility safety programme to prevent and correct unsafe environmental working conditions utilising knowledge of industrial processes. mechanics, chemistry and industrial health and safety regulations.

· Examines plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to determine that all relevant safety precautions have been included.

· Develops safety requirement to educate personnel in safety procedures related to industry.

· Investigates each safety incident and recommends corrective action to minimise re-occurrence.

· Conducts random safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

· Conducts risk assessments of buildings, plant equipment, moving machinery, vehicles, work practices and all other relevant environments.

· To undertake all other duties as assigned on Al Jawf Class Minehunters.

· To observe confidentiality of RSNF data at all times.

· The jobholder is expected to control and adhere to the current company SHE Policy.

· Near miss, accident reports and spot it report it procedures are to be followed when required. At all times to work in a safe manner using any PPE required.

· The jobholder if required may be asked to attend Forklift Truck, Overhead Crane, Rigging & slinging and sea survival courses. They may also be asked to act as Fire warden or First Aider.

Job Requirements:

· Higher National Certificate/Ordinary National Certificate or equivalent professional engineering qualification, or a combination of training and experience which provides an equivalent educational standard.

· The position requires professional knowledge, understanding and appropriate qualifications in the Safety, Health and Environment field.

· Seven (7) years’ experience occupational health and safety work experience with a minimum of two years in ship maintenance facilities Hold a full driving licence recognised in the K.S.A.

· Satisfactory completion of a thorough physical and dental examination prior to taking up the post.
