Location: Warton, On site

Shift Pattern: 3 day shifts (07:00AM-20:00PM) on a rota over 8 weeks (no nights)

(13hr day shift + requirement to work Overtime)

Salary: £41,109+ (DOE) + 24% Shift Allowance – after Training

Job Description:

As a Firefighter, you will provide rescue and firefighting support across Warton Aerodrome, supporting both civil and military aircraft operations. You will respond to aircraft incidents, building emergencies, and medical situations, helping to protect colleagues and the wider site community. Working as part of the Rescue Fire Fighting Service, you will maintain operational readiness through regular training, equipment checks, and assessments while delivering a professional emergency response service.

Core duties:

• Respond to aircraft incidents, building emergencies, medical emergencies, and other situations across the licensed aerodrome area
• Complete routine station duties, inspections, and operational checks of rescue and firefighting equipment, ensuring readiness when required
• Participate in mandatory training, exercises, and competency assessments to maintain the knowledge and skills required for this position
• Maintain required levels of operational fitness, training, and professional competence in line with Fire Service requirements
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and other teams across Warton Aerodrome to provide an effective and professional emergency response service

Essential Skills:

• Demonstrable experience and capability as a Firefighter within a Local Authority, aviation, military, or similar operational firefighting environment
• Current recognised Firefighter qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 Operational Firefighter, CAP 699/Civil Aviation Authority certification, MOD equivalent, or comparable recognised qualification
• Recognised Breathing Apparatus Wearer qualification and a current First Aid certificate or equivalent
• Full UK driving licence, with an LGV Category C licence or willingness and ability to achieve this once in role
• GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths, and Science, alongside the required physical fitness to successfully complete a Fire Service medical

The Rescue Fire Fighting Service (RFFS) Team:

The RFFS supports civil and military aircraft operations across Warton Aerodrome. The team provides operational emergency response across the site, with regular training and development opportunities and a recognised rank structure supporting future career progression.
