Engineering Support Lead

Role Description:
We have an exciting opportunity within the HF Exports Program where you will be responsible for leading and coordinating engineering support services across the ROTHR Support Contract, ensuring the continued availability, reliability and supportability of the three ROTHR – systems baseline. The role manages software support activities, obsolescence management, engineering investigations, depot repair services, spares support and technical reporting while acting as the key engineering interface between the customer, Advanced Manufacturing service centre, discipline leads and project management.
As the Engineering Support Lead, you will Lead the delivery of the technical support services for the sustainment of the three operational Receive Systems, ensuring contractual obligations are achieved and customer support requirements are met.
Core Duties:
- Facilitate software support activities and deliveries
- Monitor the design baseline for hardware, software and component obsolescence risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain long-term system supportability
- Prepare and present regular obsolescence assessments covering system components across all operational sites
- Lead the response to technical queries raised, ensuring timely and technically accurate outcomes
- Coordinate engineering investigations, root-cause analyses, technical studies and white papers relating to system issues, performance concerns, reliability trends and enhancement opportunities
- Maintain the engineering design baseline, including configuration management, technical documentation updates, design records and engineering change implementation activities
- Act as the primary engineering representative for customer support calls, technical working groups, engineering reviews and sustainment planning meetings
- Manage depot engineering support activities, including oversight of the RSS (ROTHR Support System
- Coordinate spares support activities, including management of procurement requirements against the Recommended Spare Provisioning List (RSPL)
- Manage emergent spares requirements, supporting unplanned material and labour requirements as necessary to maintain system availability
- Provide engineering oversight of repair activities, ensuring diagnosis, fault isolation, repair, refurbishment and testing activities are completed in accordance with approved technical procedures
- Support broader program sustainment activities as directed by the PEM
Essential Skills:
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, IT, or a related field
- Professional registration with a recognised industry body would be advantageous (E.g. Engineers Australia)
- Demonstrated engineering leadership and co-ordination in complex projects and environments
- Experience in a systems / ILS engineering role, with a strong understanding of Sustainment principles and practices
- Demonstrated engineering risk management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and recommend effective solutions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in Over the Horizon Radar is desirable
