Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Legal, Regulatory & Standards (LR&S) Lead to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP), based in either the Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA or a flexible location.

Reporting to the Hunter Program Chief Engineer’s Operations Manager, the LR&S Lead will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems, tools, methods and stakeholder networks to enable the collection of compliance evidence for the Hunter Frigate Design Certificate.

Excellent communication skills are required to engage with the wide spectrum of internal stakeholders in Australian and the UK, as well as with the global network of suppliers to the program, providing guidance and support to facilitate provision of compliance evidence.

Given the strong compliance focus, whilst operating in the Chief Engineer’s office, it represents a unique opportunity to work across both the Engineering and Legal domains.

Core Duties:

  • Engage widely across the Hunter Program, primarily with engineering design leads, Design Authorities, Supply Chain leads and key suppliers to provide guidance, advice and to ensure evidence of design compliance is completed in support of design certification program milestones

  • Lead in the management and administration of the Legislation, Regulation & technical Standards (LR&S) database
  • Facilitate in the development and maintenance of the HCFP LR&S Compliance Report
  • Maintain the HCFP LR&S Baseline and provide monthly compliance reporting to the Chief Engineer
  • Provide support and advice to internal Engineering teams and, as required, external Suppliers in all matters related to the HCFP Legislation, Regulation and Standards scope

    • KEY CRITERIA:

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering along with Chartered Engineer Status (desirable).
    • Significant experience within the Engineering or Legal/Commercial discipline (required)
    • Good understanding of the product design and manufacturing lifecycle
    • Experience in effective use of Engineering Process, Methods, Tools and Infrastructure
    • Experience participating in major reviews along with proven ability to function confidently within a project team environment
    • Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels
    • Current NV1 defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
