Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Manager – Information & Knowledge Management

Location: Barrow-in-Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £57000 – £61000 per annum

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive delivery of the digital engineering project under the T2S roadmap, embedding innovative IKM solutions into Support Engineering workflows
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional requirements, ensuring digital tools align with real-world operational and maintenance needs
  • Implement and optimise digital toolsets (PLM, ERP, and collaboration platforms) to enhance data accessibility, traceability, and reusability
  • Integrate engineering and support systems to enable seamless, validated information flow across teams and platforms
  • Apply Def Stan 00-600 and S-Series standards to engineering data, ensuring consistency across ILS, technical publications, and maintenance planning

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Proven experience delivering IKM/digital solutions or technical data integration in Defence or other complex engineering settings
  • Solid understanding of IKM principles and their role in through-life support
  • Skilled in engaging stakeholders and translating operational needs into practical technical solutions

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Def Stan and S-Series specs (S1000D, S2000M, S3000L)
  • Experience in information assurance, metadata standards, and configuration management
  • Understanding of submarine or shipbuilding support environments

The Information & Knowledge Management team:

This role leads the delivery of digital engineering and information management capabilities that transform how Support Engineering accesses and uses technical data across the submarine lifecycle. You will drive integration of systems, data, and documentation under the Transition to Support roadmap for the Dreadnought and SSNA programmes. You will work closely with Support Engineering, ILS, IM&T, and MOD stakeholders, This is a high-impact, forward-looking position offering scope for growth into senior leadership, ideal for someone passionate about digital transformation and continuous improvement in a complex engineering environment.

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
