Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronic/Hardware Engineer – Facilities to join the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) program and make a valuable contribution. Reporting to the Hardware Product Team Lead, you will be based at Edinburgh, Adelaide and will be employed on a permanent full time basis.

Core Duties:

  • Design, develop and manage the engineering change of electronic/hardware and Radio Frequency (RF) systems and equipment on facilities related projects
  • Work within a supportive electronic/hardware engineering team to turn contractual requirements and design ideas into operational products for facilities related projects
  • Undertake the development of new and existing products through the entire product lifecycle including requirements analysis, detailed design analysis, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, firmware development, performance analysis and verification
  • Develop optimised electronic/hardware system/equipment detail designs, verify the design against requirements, and produce design documentation
  • Collaborate effectively with customers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture within the JORN program
  • Act as a point of contact and provide technical advice on electronic/hardware engineering activities and the engineering methodologies performed
  • Utilise hardware test tools effectively to undertake test, integration and verification including diagnosing problems and analysing results

Essential Skills:

  • Electronics engineering or hardware engineering or RF engineering or systems engineering experience – Engineering experience in other disciplines will also be considered
  • A relevant tertiary engineering degree and experience with electronic/hardware product design and integration
  • Knowledge of engineering design analysis techniques and development tools
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams
  • Good problem-solving skills, self-motivation and critical thinking skills
  • Whilst not essential, electronics/hardware engineering experience on facilities related projects, will be highly regarded

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) program team

The JORN has been a part of our nation’s defence landscape for many decades and comprises three Over-The-Horizon-Radar (OTHR) systems to provide surveillance coverage of our northern border. BAE Systems has been awarded the contract to manage the sustainment and upgrade of this 100 percent Australian solution that is strategically important to Australia’s security.
