Job Title – Contracts Officer

Job Location: This role is based at our Sydney, NSW Offices, we would consider candidates from Victoria or Adelaide.

Role Description:

As the Contracts Officer you will be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with subcontractors and suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business and supporting Subcontract Managers with delivery of Contracts.

You will have the skills and broad knowledge across all facets of supply chain and contract management to maximise value and minimise risk to the program and more broadly, BAE Systems Australia.

An ability to develop strong working relationships with suppliers, their supply chains and internal stakeholders is required.

Core Duties:

  • Support the Program or Business in supplier negotiations, finalise supplier agreements and purchase orders and adhere to contractual obligations through effective commercial management including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow and flow down of contract amendments.
  • Support management of allocated tasks and small projects to achieve value for money for the program or business whilst minimising risk relating to cost, schedule, quality and safety.
  • Administer and monitor variations to the subcontracts, including the drafting of commercial/subcontract related notices as required.
  • Support managing the performance of suppliers and subcontractors to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective.
  • Facilitate and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, engaging with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and consistent business approach.
  • Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) on behalf of Subcontract Managers, ensuring they accurately reflect pricing structures, milestones, payment schedules and follow through the appropriate Delegation of Authority processes.
  • Support the Subcontract Manager with CDRL documentation delivery for contracted scope.
  • Receipt PO line items as contract milestones are achieved and support claim and invoice processing in line with agreed terms.
  • Maintain and update registers of document reviewers and approvers in collaboration with Subcontract Managers.
  • Produce reporting on subcontractor deliverables and performance metrics.

About You:

  • Australian Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance (Essential).
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
  • Experience in a commercial or procurement role, ideally in engineering, defence or other complex industries.
  • Completion of procurement/supply chain and/or commercial law tertiary qualification (desirable) coupled with demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract administration/management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
