Contracts Manager
Job Location: This role would be ideally based in Melbourne but is open to other capital cities for the right candidate.

Role Description:
We are currently looking for a Contracts Manager to join our Hunter Class Frigates Program line of business, reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager.
As a Contracts Manager you will join a team within the Supply Chain function, delivering commercial services to meet operational needs.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
These commercial services will typically include, but are not limited to delivering:
- Business Winning activities
- Request for Bid Approval and Submission, Contract Agreement and Award activities
- Contract execution phases
- Contract Closure phases
- Opportunity Identification and Exploitation
Core Duties:
- Contract management activities including negotiation of contract change, with minimal supervision.
- Delivery of commercial advice and support to Procurement/Supply Chain teams and flow-down of commercial contract requirements.
- Drafting moderately complex contracts / agreements with minimal supervision.
- Contract negotiations, including preparation of plans for commercial aspects and approach during negotiations as part of negotiating teams.
- Assist the supplier evaluation process and support sourcing recommendations on behalf of the business.
- Support to Contract and Bid Status Reviews to justify, explain and obtain endorsement of ongoing commercial contract activities.
- Delivery of commercial budgets and explaining both under-spends and over-spends to senior commercial management.
Essential Skills:
- A proven capability in negotiation and contract management.
- Strong commercial skills and acumen, with relevant expertise or commercial experience, with a good understanding of how a commercial function enables teams to achieve business outcomes.
- Degree Qualified – preferably in business, commerce, law or similar discipline.
- Good communication skills, initiative and a curious mindset.
- The ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential.
- Prior defence experience is considered a significant advantage.
- Completion of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) would be advantageous in this position.
- Defence security clearance eligibility is a mandatory requirement for this role.
