Role Description:

We currently have a rewarding opportunity to join us as a Commercial Officer where you will be part of the exciting and dynamic High Frequency Exports (HF Exports) team, supporting them through all stages of the project lifecycle. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for supporting commercial activities and services by identifying and implementing solutions to meet business needs and strategic objectives of the Program team.

Core Duties:

  • Develop and manage the commercial relationship with the customer community
  • Manage and resolve customer queries and issues in areas of responsibility, escalating significant problems as appropriate
  • Prepare bids in line with the Life Cycle Management and the Request for Bid Approval process
  • Review, draft, negotiate and finalise contracts and commercial agreements and support with complex contracts
  • Manage commercial contracts and the commercial elements of the Life Cycle Management and Request for Bid Approval process within own possession
  • Adopt clear understandings with suppliers of both technical and commercial issues to ensure that business arrangements minimise risk. Propose and review complex terms and conditions to ensure that BAE Systems Australia Business interests are protected
  • Support Procurement and Supply Chain colleagues in the preparation of sub-contract terms and conditions as required
  • Work with the internal legal team and external legal advisors as required to ensure all contracts have the necessary legal input/governance
  • Manage the implementation of procedures and controls within the specified area to ensure compliance with commercial policies
  • Provide advice on commercial policy to managers and non-commercial staff making the case for the added value of these processes
  • Draft moderately complex contracts / agreements with little supervision
  • Participating in calls with our international customers that may be outside standard Australian business hours (approx. 2 times per week)

About You:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Flexible with a lean in approach
  • Team orientation with a high level of written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders of all levels and from a range of disciplines
  • A curious mind-set
  • An ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision and guidance and using your own experience, judgement and initiative
  • Adept at building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite. Familiarity with tools like SharePoint and Oracle is desirable
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Government Security Clearance
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role
