Job Description:

The role provides support and maintenance for a range of business-critical applications and systems, including troubleshooting issues, supporting users, and helping to ensure reliable service delivery. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications, working with software vendors and third-party suppliers as required.

The successful candidate will support server and database environments, contribute to incident resolution, service requests, and project activities, and develop technical expertise across a diverse technology landscape. This role offers broad exposure to both established systems and emerging technologies, making it well suited to an adaptable engineer with a wide-ranging technical skillset.

Core duties:

  • Provide user-focused application support, gaining a good understanding of business processes and system workflows to effectively assist end users
  • Configure, maintain and administer enterprise applications, ensuring they continue to meet operational business needs across their lifecycle
  • Contribute relevant technical knowledge across servers, networks, applications, and relevant underlying technologies to support incident, request, and project workstreams, helping inform design decisions and technical outcomes
  • Operate as a flexible technical contributor, supporting a mix of operational support and project-based activities across both established and emerging technologies
  • Document system processes, procedures, and configurations, ensuring knowledge is captured and maintained to support consistent operations and future improvement activities
  • Support “run and maintain” activities across the estate, including supporting server updates & outages, managing application patches, and ensuring systems remain secure, stable, and aligned with operational & governance requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Experience working with and writing queries within Relational Database Management Systems (Microsoft SQL Server / Oracle Databases)
  • Experience with 1st and 2nd line support of enterprise applications, supporting varying sizes of customer/user deployments
  • Experience working within & configuring Server Operating systems such as Linux and Windows Server 2019+ with knowledge of command line/programming languages (batch, PowerShell etc.) and other related protocols & technologies (SFTP, SSH, SCP).
  • Good understanding of application support principles, including issue triage, root cause analysis, and user-focused resolution

The SSCC (Support & Services Competency Centre) team:

The SSCC (Support & Services Competency Centre) team is responsible for delivering comprehensive maintenance and support services for aircraft operations worldwide. Additionally, the team ensures seamless coverage over various systems, driving growth, and integrating technologies into IT infrastructures tailored to meet the unique needs of each customer. As subject matter experts (SMEs), the team addresses inquiries, troubleshoots issues, and provides valuable insights to enhance software functionality and performance. Ultimately, the SSCC team plays a crucial role in shaping the future of aircraft maintenance and support services on a global scale.
