Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to support and enhance business-critical applications within a highly detailed aerospace and defence environment. Working across established platforms and evolving digital solutions, you’ll play a key role in ensuring applications remain reliable, effective and user-focused throughout their lifecycle. Combining front-end application support with data integration, migration and modelling activities, you’ll help enable the smooth flow of information that supports operational performance and business strategy-making.

Collaborating with technical teams, business users and stakeholders, you’ll contribute to transformation programmes that modernise existing systems and improve the user experience. This role offers exposure to commercial off-the-shelf technologies, data management, system integration and continuous improvement strategies, providing excellent opportunities to develop technical experience while supporting the future evolution of digital capabilities across BAE Systems.

Core duties:

  • Developing and enhancing system integrations, contributing to the design, build and deployment of digital solutions
  • Troubleshooting application, data integrity and business logic issues, identifying and implementing effective resolutions
  • Collaborating with architecture and technical teams to produce high-quality application configurations and design specifications
  • Providing subject matter expertise for maintenance and inventory forecasting toolsets, supporting both front-end users and back-end business processes during ongoing transformation activities

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining data integrations using SSIS or similar enterprise integration tools
  • Considerable SQL skills, including writing and troubleshooting multi-layered queries within Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle databases
  • Experience providing 1st and 2nd line support for enterprise applications, resolving technical issues and supporting users
  • Practical experience configuring and supporting Windows Server and Linux environments, including command-line tools and scripting
  • Knowledge of data transfer technologies and protocols, such as SFTP, SSH and SCP, within secure business environments

The Support & Services Competency Centre Team:

This team plays a vital role in supporting aircraft operations across a global customer base, delivering critical maintenance, application support and technology integration services. Working across a diverse range of systems and platforms, the team helps drive operational performance, continuous improvement and digital transformation goals that enhance aircraft support capabilities. As trusted subject matter experts, they provide technical guidance, resolve multi-layered issues and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve functionality, reliability and customer outcomes. Their work directly supports business growth, operational excellence and the future evolution of aircraft maintenance and support services worldwide.
