Job Description

Are you fashion focused, inspired, with an eye for trends and passionate about hairstyling, make up and fashion? If so, this Junior Hair & Make up position could be the role for you!

The ASOS Hair and Make-Up Team play a crucial role within the production department. We are a team of fashion focused individuals, from a variety of backgrounds. You will be working with the Hair and Makeup Team to create, fulfil and deliver the creative initiatives of the Style Directors. It is our job to ensure that the ASOS models are looking their best at all times!

As a Junior Hair & Make-up Artist you will work together with your peers to bring to life the ever-evolving ASOS Creative. You’ll need to consistently be aware of current trends, be adaptable and understand the ASOS customer. It is essential that you are passionate about hairstyling, make up and fashion!

What you’ll be doing…

  • Producing a good standard of hair & make up that is brand appropriate, references the seasons catwalk trends, street style, influencers, Tik – Tok and appeals to the ASOS 20-something customer

  • Be prepared to work to a 45 minute deadline for x2 models to be shoot ready

  • Follow all creative and operational hair and make-up and wider studio processes

  • Attend & complete all in house & external training sessions

  • Constant awareness of the latest and upcoming hair trends, following each seasons catwalk shows, social media trends, our competitors and street styles

  • Work under the guidance of the Hair & Make-up Seniors and Team Leader to produce, develop & execute the looks

  • Be responsible for your own studio’s hair & make up execution

  • Participate in creation of inspirational mood boards and creative decks under the guidance of senior and/or management team when required

  • Build relationships and rapport with ASOS models to instil trust in your hair and make-up ability and in the wider production department.

  • Participation of daily team tasks, end of day jobs and to help senior team members with duties when required

  • Professional presence in the hair and make-up department and throughout the studios

  • Analysis of your own technical hair and make-up execution through daily updates and openness to improve these areas under the guidance of the senior & management team

  • Attend creative Hair and Make-up meetings and other wider business meetings where necessary

  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment and products on a daily basis to ensure a professional & sanitary working environment

  • Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies

Qualifications

  • Previous session/make up assisting or basic fashion hair experience required

  • Previous fashion e-commerce experience is advantageous

  • Experience with all hair texture types Inc. basic experience in wigs, weaves and extensions required but not essential

  • Be a dedicated team player who is eager to learn and can grasp new information quickly

  • Good communication skills & eagerness to learn

  • Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment and remain proactive and professional

  • Be able to rapidly adapt to change and stay positive

  • Respond positively to feedback and areas of improvement and have the ability to provide solutions where possible

  • Good time management skills, along with the ability to prioritise daily tasks

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Good knowledge of Excel & Powerpoint

  • And most of all a willingness to learn, grow and be a team player
