Job Description

The Head of Indirect Tax & Customs plays a key role within the Tax department. Indirect taxes are a key component of ASOS’s supply chain and require proactive management to ensure compliance in a fast-changing global landscape. ASOS has created this role to support the Director of Tax in overseeing and supporting the indirect tax agenda, due to the increase in compliance obligations, strategic planning and business partnering required going forwards.

The Details

  • Leading a team to manage the Customs and VAT agenda through legislative changes, digitisation requirements and business changes and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Monitoring the impact of Indirect Taxes on ASOS’s balance sheet and income statement and ensuring accurate accounting and regular balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proactive solutions to reduce the working capital impact of Indirect Taxes, including successful interactions with our business units in supply chain restructurings.
  • Lead indirect tax compliance, including making tax digital requirements, working with external consultants where required to ensure timely and accurate submission of relevant returns in all jurisdictions in which the group does business.
  • Lead ongoing external tax audits of applicable taxes in all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and enhance the indirect tax compliance and reporting processes within the financial reporting system; troubleshoot tax-related problems within ERP and trade management systems and identify solutions for internal business partners
  • Identify and implement indirect tax planning opportunities and risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide ad hoc analysis/projects as requested by management
  • Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.

We believe being together in person helps us move faster, connect more deeply, and achieve more as a team. That’s why our approach to working together includes spending at least 3 days a week in the office. It’s a rhythm that speeds up decision-making, helps ASOSers learn from each other more quickly, and builds the kind of culture where people can grow, create, and succeed.

Qualifications

About You
