Job Description

APM Terminals

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.

As a Project Procurement Lead, you will play a key role in supporting the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Modernization Project in Bremerhaven, Germany. You will lead, coordinate, and administer procurement activities across project CAPEX, small CAPEX, and relevant OPEX requirements. Working closely with project teams, corporate procurement, technical stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors, you will ensure procurement activities support timely project delivery while meeting APM Terminals and Maersk procurement policies, governance requirements, and supplier controls.

What We Can Offer

At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Contribute to a major terminal modernization programme involving construction, automation, equipment, infrastructure, and IT/OT workstreams.

  • Lead procurement activities across a complex, multidisciplinary capital project.

  • Build experience in project procurement, supplier governance, contract management, and project controls.

  • Collaborate with international project, procurement, technical, and commercial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate project CAPEX procurement activities in collaboration with project teams, corporate procurement, functional stakeholders, and demand owners.

  • Translate project requirements into procurement plans, tender packages, sourcing strategies, purchase orders, and contract award recommendations.

  • Maintain procurement schedules and deliverables aligned with project execution, design, construction, automation, equipment, and IT/OT milestones.

  • Coordinate tender procedures, bid evaluations, supplier selection, negotiations, and contract awards.

  • Develop negotiation strategies covering price, delivery, quality, warranties, payment terms, service levels, and risk allocation.

  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor critical vendors, contractors, consultants, and service providers.

  • Monitor purchase orders after award, including supplier acknowledgements, manufacturing progress, documentation, delivery readiness, and long-lead items.

  • Track procurement costs, savings, risks, supplier performance, and progress, providing clear reporting to project leadership.

  • Coordinate with package managers, logistics, finance, warehouse, site teams, and suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, documentation, and commercial issues.

  • Integrate procurement risks, opportunities, mitigation actions, and dependencies into project controls and governance.

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

  • Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently puts customers first, leads by example with respect for people, delivers results with integrity, and drives continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Accounting, Logistics, or a related discipline.

  • 7–10 years of procurement and/or supply chain experience, preferably in project, capital infrastructure, transport, logistics, port, or container terminal environments.

  • Proven experience coordinating CAPEX procurement, tendering, supplier selection, contract awards, and procurement governance for complex projects.

  • Strong planning, prioritisation, supplier management, procurement reporting, and contract management capabilities.

  • Excellent negotiation, commercial, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience working across project teams, technical functions, procurement, legal, finance, suppliers, and contractors.

  • Experience with digital procurement or ERP systems is advantageous.

  • Fluent English is essential; German is essential for local stakeholder engagement, supplier discussions, and project documentation in Germany.
