Regulate, Inspect and Protect the water supply!

Our Water Services team clean water to the highest standard, deliver it to millions of homes, and carefully manage it to ensure it never runs out. We borrow water from the environment, store it and treat it to world-class standards to supply safe drinking water to 4.3 million customers in towns and villages from Grimsby, in the north-east of our region, to Milton Keynes at the south-western tip.

As a Water Regulations Inspector, you’ll co-ordinate, plan and undertake Water Regulation Inspections/Assessments on new and existing High risk domestic dwellings, commercial and industrial premises, and Anglian Water owned assets. These inspections/assessments are a crucial part of supporting the business in protecting water supplies, from waste, misuse, undue consumption, contamination, and erroneous measurement and to keeping the Anglian Water region’s public water supply safe.

In this important role, you’ll be face to face with customers and be required to inspect and assess hot and cold water plumbing system installations on all types of properties including; domestic properties, farms, schools, hospitals, and factories etc. for compliance relating to the Water Supply Regulations. Carrying out these inspections and assessments you’ll be playing your part in protecting the public water supply.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and deliver audits on Anglian Water’s approved plumbers and contractors within the Anglian Water region

  • Plan a risk-based inspection programme for all industrial commercial users based on the risk category and inspection frequency

  • Accurately record all inspection details including alternative water systems and fire fighting systems

  • Send advice letters and questionnaires to target premises, vet returns and categorise premises by risk

  • Advise internal and external customers on compliance with the water regulations

  • Carry out reactive inspections in response to water quality issues

As a valued employee you’ll be entitled to:

  • A competitive pension scheme where we double-match your contributions up to 6%

  • Private healthcare for your peace of mind

  • An annual bonus scheme

  • Company vehicle

  • The opportunity to volunteer in your local community

  • 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), increasing with service, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter for religious holidays

  • Life cover (8x your salary) and personal accident cover (up to 5x your salary)

  • Flexible benefits to support your well-being and lifestyle

  • Paid time off for illness, both physical and mental

  • Free parking at all office locations, sites, and leisure parks

  • Excellent family-friendly policies, including 26 weeks of full pay for maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks of paternity/partner pay, with the opportunity for shared parental leave

What does it take to be successful?

  • This is a great opportunity for someone in a similar role or with experience of plumbing installations.

  • You will ideally hold a recognised plumbing qualification and a relevant Water Regulations knowledge qualification. This is not essential, but is preferred.

  • We are looking for you to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. This role will need a flexible individual as it could occasionally involve you working out of hours to meet business requirements.
