We are looking for a Regulation Compliance Specialist (Drinking Water and Environment) to join our new Quality Regulation and Compliance Team and help safeguard compliance across drinking water and environmental obligations

You will play a vital role in supporting our Regulation Compliance team in assessing and validating compliance activities for drinking water and environmental obligations. Working closely with first line teams, you will ensure accuracy and completeness of data and documentation. Your work will help maintain trust with regulators and stakeholders while ensuring we meet our legal and environmental responsibilities.

You will also represent Anglian Water in national forums, influence policy development and support internal teams with compliance monitoring and reporting. It will involve delivering improvement initiatives, support training and awareness, and help embed learning from investigations into operational practices. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact and contribute to continuous improvement across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Drinking Water Inspectorate, Environment Agency, and Defra to share performance updates, key developments and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Review and assess compliance information and documentation submitted by operational teams
  • Identify inconsistencies and advise on corrective actions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in national forums and policy development discussions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and contribute to regulatory submissions and internal decision-making.
  • Implement compliance monitoring procedures and support targeted investigations.
  • Promote continuous improvement and embed learning from investigations into operational practices.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Degree (or equivalent qualification /experience) in environmental science, water regulation, or related discipline.
  • Experience in compliance data review and familiarity with environmental permits and drinking water quality regulations. It is recognised experience may be preferentially drinking water or environmental.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build trust.
  • Proficiency with data management and reporting tools.
  • Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence
