Full time, 37 hours per week, Permanent

Based location will be our Whitlingham Laboratory with travel to our Central Laboratory in Huntingdon once a week.

We’re currently seeking a Sampling Co-ordinator to join our forward-thinking Analytical Services team.

In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the Sampling Manager to lead and support a high-performing team of samplers. You’ll play a key role in coordinating training, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring our rigorous quality standards are consistently met. Your technical expertise and leadership will help drive continuous improvement, enhance service delivery, and uphold our reputation for excellence in safeguarding water quality across the region.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Act as a key support to the Sampling Manager, deputising when required and helping to lead the day-to-day operations of the sampling team.

  • Coordinate and assess training plans to ensure all team members are fully equipped to deliver high-quality, compliant sampling services.

  • Supervise and guide samplers and senior samplers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Participate in sampling activities to maintain a strong technical understanding of methods and ensure service flexibility.

  • Oversee data verification and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Monitor and escalate unusual or non-conforming results, arranging confirmatory analysis where necessary.

  • Maintain and audit quality records, ensuring robust documentation and readiness for internal and external audits.

  • Support procurement and stock control processes, ensuring availability and quality of equipment and consumables.

  • Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new team members, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.

  • Champion health, safety, and wellbeing across all activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies.

What does it take to be a Sampling Co-ordinator?

  • Degree qualified in a relevant scientific subject

  • Experience in environmental Science

  • Full UK Driving licence as driving is part of the role

  • Strong working background in environmental analysis

  • A natural eye for detail

  • A flexible approach to accommodate and prioritise an unpredictable workload

  • Enjoy supervising a team

  • Experience of being able to communicate effectively in order to train and support your colleagues around you.
