Job Description

Sampling Scheduler
Circa £28,000 dependent on skills and experience
Permanent, full time (37 hours) with flexibility for part time
Hybrid working – with some office based work in Central Laboratory in Huntingdon

Dive into a world of opportunity, and join our team!

Before it reaches our customer’s tap, drinking water is cleaned, disinfected and tested to ensure it’s safe to be consumed; after the water has been flushed and poured into our sewers, it’s delivered to our water recycling works, where it’s cleaned before it gets passed back to nature, where it’s also tested to ensure it’s not going to damage the environment.

We analyse and test hundreds of clean water and final effluent samples everyday. Our samplers travel around the Anglian Water region visiting Anglian Water’s water treatment works and recycling centres, boreholes, reservoirs, rivers and customer properties collecting water samples and carrying out on-site chlorine tests.

We are looking for a Sampling Scheduler to assist in planning and co-ordinating the sampling programme to meet the regulatory and business need. You will operate our scheduling systems to ensure sampling events (planned and ad-hoc) are scheduled to ensure 100% compliance with regulatory and business requirements.

The role will liaise with the Sampling Managers to schedule workflow and resources proactively and dynamically.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in sample scheduling as required and maintain a broad technical understanding of methods in your area of responsibility
  • Demonstrate flexible working to ensure that all samples are scheduled as planned, providing team cover as required
  • Demonstrate delivery of an effective and efficient service whilst maximising team flexibility
  • Participate in operational rotas and work schedules in line with business needs
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with Sampling Managers and Samplers to ensure all unplanned absence is captured and the sampling schedule is updated to ensure all samples are accounted for e.g. sickness cover, and vehicle breakdowns
  • Support the Sampling Managers to ensure all planned absence is captured by the scheduling team and agreed weekly prior to approval e.g. annual leave

As a valued employee you’ll be entitled to:

  • A competitive pension scheme where we double-match your contributions up to 6%
  • Private healthcare for your peace of mind
  • An annual bonus scheme
  • The opportunity to volunteer in your local community
  • 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), increasing with service, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter for religious holidays
  • Life cover (8x your salary) and personal accident cover (up to 5x your salary)
  • Flexible benefits to support your well-being and lifestyle
  • Paid time off for illness, both physical and mental
  • Free parking at all office locations, sites, and leisure parks
  • Excellent family-friendly policies, including 26 weeks of full pay for maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks of paternity/partner pay, with the opportunity for shared parental leave

What does it take to be successful?

  • Knowledge and experience sufficient to resolve complex technical problems
  • Able to troubleshoot, resolve and minimise issues
  • Able to analyse, compare, interpret, and make judgements
  • Able to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads
  • Understand customer requirements and how customers use our analytical data
  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels
