Our Water Services team clean water to the highest standard, deliver it to millions of homes, and carefully manage it to ensure it never runs out. We borrow water from the environment, store it and treat it to world-class standards to supply safe drinking water to 4.3 million customers in towns and villages from Grimsby in the northeast of our region to Milton Keynes at the south-western tip.

As a Production Planning Support Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the right quantity and quality of water is delivered where and when it’s needed. Working within our Production Planning team, you’ll support the creation of daily, weekly and monthly operational plans, gathering and interpreting real-time system constraints to keep our network running efficiently and compliantly.

You’ll collaborate closely with operational teams, planners and analysts, building a strong understanding of the network and proactively identifying risks and opportunities. As a key user of our production planning tools, you’ll help drive continuous improvement and ensure our plans remain accurate, implementable and responsive to change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and monitor dynamic operational constraints such as demand, asset availability, water quality and abstraction limits

  • Support the development and delivery of accurate, actionable production plans across multiple timescales

  • Act as a super-user of production planning tools, ensuring data is accurate and up to date

  • Monitor KPIs and system performance, identifying potential deviations and risks

  • Investigate issues, support root cause analysis and help implement mitigations

  • Work closely with operational teams to communicate plans and respond to changing conditions

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning tools, processes and data quality

  • Support maintenance and capital delivery by contributing to operational impact planning

  • Build strong relationships across Water Services, Asset Health, Water Resources and wider stakeholders

What does it take to be a Production Planning Support Engineer?

  • Experience in an operational or engineering role, ideally within the water industry

  • Strong understanding of water treatment and distribution processes

  • Knowledge of hydraulic principles

  • Confident using complex software, data tools or models (e.g. hydraulic or planning tools)

  • Experience working with operational stakeholders and influencing decisions

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in engineering, science or data-related fields (desirable)

We invest in our people - as a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care

  • Generous double match pension – contribute 7% and Anglian Water will contribute 14%, giving a total contribution of 21%

  • 24-hour Virtual GP service for you and your household

  • 26 days annual leave – rising with length of service and the ability to buy more

  • Life assurance (up to 8 x salary)

  • Personal accident cover (up to 5 x salary)

  • Excellent family friendly policies, such as 26 weeks full pay for maternity / adoption leave, as well as 4 weeks paid paternity / partner leave. Opportunity for shared parental pay
