Join the team responsible for the network infrastructure that underpins water treatment, pumping, telemetry, and operational control systems across the Anglian Water region. Operational Technology (OT) sits at the heart of how we monitor, control and operate our water and water recycling assets. From treatment processes and pumping stations to remote monitoring and industrial automation, these systems are critical to maintaining resilient services for our customers and protecting the environment.

As an OT Network Engineer, you'll help solve real-world networking challenges across hundreds of operational sites, improving resilience, cyber security and supportability of the networks that underpin water treatment, pumping and telemetry services across the region.

You will work at the centre of a rapidly evolving environment, helping to deliver secure, reliable and resilient network services while supporting major digital transformation and operational technology programmes. You'll play a key role in improving resilience, security and supportability across critical operational services used every day across the Anglian Water region.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitor, maintain and support Operational Technology network infrastructure across the Anglian Water region

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, ensuring high levels of service availability and resilience

  • Manage and maintain routers, firewalls, switches, VLANs, subnets and network security controls

  • Respond to system alerts, incidents and security events, ensuring risks are identified and addressed quickly

  • Support vulnerability remediation and cyber security activities in collaboration with security teams

  • Participate in a 24/7 standby rota to support critical Operational Technology services

  • Manage firmware updates, network patches and infrastructure lifecycle activities

  • Support projects delivering new Operational Technology solutions, providing technical input to designs, testing and implementation

  • Lead testing activities for Operational Technology network changes and upgrades

  • Maintain accurate asset records and ensure compliance with change management processes

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on network performance, security and resilience

What we're looking for

  • Experience maintaining and supporting complex TCP/IP network environments

  • Strong understanding of networking technologies, routing protocols, subnetting and IP address management

  • Experience troubleshooting network infrastructure issues in operational or business-critical environments

  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles and network security controls

  • Experience working within IT service management and change management processes

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and fault-finding skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience supporting projects and technical change activity

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • The role requires CTC security clearance, or the ability to obtain it

Desirable:

  • Experience working within Operational Technology, industrial control, SCADA or telemetry environments.

  • Experience with Azure, AWS or other cloud environments. Knowledge of user acceptance testing and release management.

  • Relevant networking or infrastructure qualifications.

  • Experience working within utilities, manufacturing or other industrial sectors.

At Anglian Water, we are driven by purpose - delivering resilient services while protecting the environment for future generations.

In this role, you will help maintain and secure critical infrastructure that underpins water and water recycling operations, work within a growing Operational Technology domain supporting Industry 4.0 and digital transformation initiatives, and gain exposure to cutting-edge networking, cyber security and operational technology solutions.

You will contribute to projects that directly improve performance, resilience, leakage reduction and environmental outcomes, while being part of a collaborative team that values innovation, learning and continuous improvement.
