Community and Conservation Ranger

Part Time | Rota-based incl. weekends and bank holidays

Salary £15,000 prorated

AVH Parks Ltd manages 14 inspiring parks across the East of England and East Midlands, including Rutland Water, Grafham Water and Alton Water. We’re looking for a Community and Conservation Ranger to help make our parks outstanding places for people and wildlife.

About the Role

This hands‑on role blends practical conservation, community engagement and volunteer support. Working with the Senior Community and Conservation Ranger and park teams, you’ll help deliver conservation objectives, enhance biodiversity and provide excellent visitor experiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out practical conservation and habitat management work

  • Monitor wildlife and support biodiversity and biosecurity initiatives

  • Lead and support guided walks, events, school sessions and public activities

  • Work with volunteers, community groups and partner organisations

  • Help maintain paths, infrastructure and visitor areas

  • Support volunteer coordination, training and supervision

  • Maintain records, reports and safety documentation

  • Promote high standards of health, safety and customer service

About You

Essential:

  • Experience in conservation, outdoor work or park-based activities

  • Experience working with volunteers or community and education groups

  • Good communication skills and a proactive, team‑focused approach

  • Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weather

  • Able to adapt to a flexible rota pattern including weekends.

  • Full, clean driving licence

Desirable:

  • Qualifications for chainsaws, strimmers, brush cutters or similar equipment

  • Experience delivering events or engagement activities

  • Experience in driving off road vehicles.

  • IT skills (MS Office / digital systems)
