Full-time, with flexibility for part-time

Location: Huntingdon, Hybrid Working

Assuring today’s commitments. Enabling tomorrow’s delivery.

Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you with hybrid working. Your base location will be in our Peterborough office.

This is a pivotal role at the heart of Anglian Water’s AMP8 programme, giving you the opportunity to shape how we deliver against our commercial commitments across Alliances, the wider supply chain and the Anglian Water business.

You’ll provide a robust assurance function for Commercial Services & Assurance, ensuring our obligations and responsibilities are met with confidence, consistency and integrity. Working across a complex and dynamic environment, you’ll actively champion collaboration — building trusted, mutually beneficial relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to drive effective ways of working.

A key part of your impact will be developing and embedding clear, practical processes and procedures that support the successful operation of new and existing commercial and framework agreements. Alongside this, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding compliance, ensuring our commercial controls and covenants are not only met, but truly embedded across the business.

This is a role for someone who enjoys influence, thrives on partnership and wants to make a visible difference to how we deliver for our customers and communities.

What you’ll be doing?

You’ll play a critical role in strengthening commercial assurance across AMP8, ensuring Anglian Water’s commercial controls, covenants and contractual commitments are robust, compliant and consistently applied.

Around 60% of your time will focus on commercial controls, where you’ll prepare and assure financial control data, manage monthly reporting and governance activities, oversee risk registers, SAP mitigations and compliance areas (including GDPR, sanctions and anti-bribery), and support audit readiness. You’ll work closely with senior commercial leaders, Legal, Supply Chain and SAP Security to identify risks, resolve non-compliance and continuously improve processes.

The remaining 40% of your role will centre on covenant and contract assurance, ensuring compliance with Anglian Water’s Common Terms Agreement and RAG5 requirements. You’ll lead assurance activities across a portfolio of contracts, monitor supplier performance, deliver second-line assurance, and provide clear, actionable insights to business leaders. You’ll also support covenant reporting to Treasury, manage assurance audits, and help embed strong controls and communication across the supply chain.

Overall, this role is about protecting the business, enabling delivery, and building confidence through strong assurance, insight-led reporting and collaborative stakeholder engagement.

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Full private healthcare with no excess

  • 26 days leave, rising with service + Bank Holidays, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religion

  • A flexible and friendly working culture

  • Competitive pension scheme – we double-match your contributions up to 6%

  • Life Assurance at eight times your salary

  • Personal Accident cover – up to 5x your salary

  • Bonus Scheme

  • Lots of great discounts

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Proven experience demonstrating commercial management of NEC contracts

  • Experienced in the implementation of processes to enable financial controls to be designed, measured and reported on.

  • Highly capable and experienced in commercial management

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of assurance and audit functions and controls

  • Proven experience in analytical role

  • Extensive experience working across multiple stakeholders, both externally and internally and within an alliancing environment (including financial service providers)

We’re looking for a collaborative and proactive professional who builds strong relationships and brings people with them. You’ll be approachable, open to new ideas and trusted for your integrity, while also having the confidence to provide robust, constructive challenge when needed.

You’ll be comfortable motivating and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, providing clear direction and helping others succeed. Able to work both independently and as part of a wider team, you’ll thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint, and bring a forward-thinking, can-do mindset to everything you do. Supportive and development-focused, you’ll take ownership of your own learning while actively helping to grow the capability and confidence of those around you.

Why apply?

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in Anglian Water’s AMP8 programme, sitting at the heart of commercial assurance and influencing how we deliver for customers, communities and the environment.

You’ll work in a highly collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your expertise will be valued and your voice heard. The role offers real visibility with senior stakeholders, the chance to shape and improve commercial controls and assurance processes, and the satisfaction of seeing your work make a tangible impact across the business and supply chain.

Alongside meaningful work, you’ll be supported to grow — developing your skills, broadening your network and building a strong platform for future progression within a respected and purpose-led organisation.
