Job Objectives
This Head of Inbound is a key leadership role responsible for directing a core functional area of the warehouse operations to meet performance targets, customer expectations, and rigorous quality and safety standards. This leader will manage a team of receiving inspectors, focusing on their professional development and ensuring alignment with top company objectives
This individual is accountable for the efficient, accurate, and safe handling and inspection of all incoming goods -from the point of goods arrival, to goods receipt and inventory management, ensuring product integrity and a hazard-free work environment . The Head will build a talent pipeline by determining appropriate staffing levels, managing workloads , and developing team members for future growth. Using designated KPIs to demonstrate performance, this leader will drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction . This position requires strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to solve problems, smooth operations, and adapt to the changing needs of the business.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations
- Master and optimize the end-to-end Inbound process, acting as the business's subject matter expert to drive best-in-class standards for quality, accuracy, and efficiency in your domain.
- Execute the daily and weekly operational plan for the Inbound department, translating broader warehouse targets into clear, data-driven production goals, staffing plans, and workflow priorities for your team.
- Set clear performance expectations and own the performance management process for the department, providing regular, constructive coaching and holding the team accountable for results. Resolve complex, escalated issues and ensure the team's training and skill certifications are always current.
- Own and report on all KPIs for the Inbound department, analyzing performance data to provide detailed updates, root-cause analyses, and actionable recommendations to the Head of Warehouse Operations.
- Serve as the key operational liaison between the Inbound department and adjacent departments (e.g., Inventory, Outbound and Shipping), ensuring seamless handoffs and proactive communication to maintain overall operational flow.
Leadership & Team development
- Lead and develop a high-performing Inbound department, owning all aspects of team performance, training, and engagement to create a culture of excellence and accountability within your specific area.
- Develop and manage the work plan for the Inbound department, aligning staffing levels, scheduling, and skill sets with operational forecasts and daily volume fluctuations to consistently meet performance targets.
- Cultivate a high-performance culture by leading, mentoring, and developing all talent within the Inbound department. Own the full employee lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to performance management and career pathing, to build a robust talent pipeline.
- Identify and mentor high potential talents, address critical skill gaps and prepare the team for evolving business needs
Compliances, Risk Management and Safety
- Ensure operational stability and contingency through structured risk management and strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) policies and highest safety standards.
- Set clear objectives aligned with company ethics, regulatory, legal, and aviation-specific compliance standards.
- Promote and support internal/external audits and operational reviews to maintain process compliance and adherence to global policies and standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive targeted continuous improvement initiatives within the Inbound department, using methodologies like Kaizen and 5S to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, enhance workflow, and perfect processes specific to your department.
- Champion a culture of engagement and accountability where every team member is empowered to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. Implement and oversee recognition and feedback programs to drive continuous improvement.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Lead projects and/or initiatives with site and regional impact designed to evolve the business model.
- Adapt to growth and changes within the business as needed.
- Work in a backup capacity for other warehouse leaders and deputize management in meetings when necessary.
- Participate and contribute to local and regional improvement initiatives
- Other duties reasonably determined from time to time by the Company
Job Requirements
- Diploma in Logistics / Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of leadership and people management role
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a warehouse operations,, manufacturing and/or order fulfillment environment
- Strong knowledge in material management, warehouse and transportation operations
- Preferably knowledge about the aerospace aftermarket, customer services and after sales operations in the aviation industry
- In depth knowledge about IT systems, preferably SAP R/3, materials management, warehouse and transportation management systems, process governance and quality management, ideally in the aviation context
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management
- Ability to execute and drive change
- Customer focused, with strong communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
- Proven team player who has the ability to align diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to see the bigger picture and implement mid- to long-term solutions.
- Proactive and resilient, with a drive for change, the backbone to support and stand for ideas, and the ability to disagree and commit
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, working independently and efficiently under pressure in dynamic settings.
- Highly organized with exceptional time management and the flexibility to adapt in fast-changing environments
