Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to shape and deploy the Quality Management System (QMS) during the ramp-up phase of the Flexrotor program in Bingen, Washington . Operating primarily onsite (90%), this role puts you at the forefront of operational quality, driving data-driven defect analysis, leading practical problem-solving events, and establishing root cause and corrective action (RCCA) plans . If you have at least 8 years of technical engineering or quality experience in mature production environments, hold U.S. Person status under ITAR regulations, and excel at building standards in a dynamic aerospace setting, this position offers a high-impact opportunity to reduce non-quality costs and elevate production standards .

Meet the Team:

The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) on land and at sea.

Your Challenges:

Quality Management System: 70%

  • Definition and deployment of the processes to operate the quality management system
  • Uphold the standard of Airbus Core Values by welcoming challenges with integrity, commitment, confidence, teamwork, customer focus, respect and reliability
  • Demonstrate creativity, propose and implement innovations using lean methodologies, data analytic and mining techniques to ensure that top company objectives (TCOs) are met
  • Review, develop, and analyze dashboards and visual management tools to identify deficiencies in the quality system
  • Compile and analyze statistical data for non-conformities, Key Performance Indicators and other quality department metrics to identify trends, problem areas and provide feedback to implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve the quality management system
  • Monitor digital platform for collection and archiving reports for FOD, housekeeping, tool inventories, lost tool and lost item reports
  • Evaluate Key Performance Indicators to identify problem areas and implement corrective action to ensure company performance objectives are met.
  • Support Inspection personnel on Nonconformity Management (NCM) data analysis and quality implementation processes and issues that arise due to discrepancies
  • Interact with various collaborators to establish feedback monitoring, identify trends and highlight opportunities to improve the quality management system
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reporting based on quality interactions
  • Create, Review and update as directed company manuals, policies, procedures and forms to improve and streamlinecompany processes
  • Implement and monitor inspection plans and test processes to ensure that quality assurance standards are achieved

Continuous Improvement/Compliance: 30%

  • Apply processes and metrics such as, but not limited to SQCDP, key performance indicators, practical problem solving (PPS), plan do check act (PDCA), root cause and corrective action and other quality department metrics to support continuous improvement of company policies, procedures, and processes ensuring that company objectives are on target
  • Evaluate the quality management system to share insights and trends that will enhance the system and customer experience
  • Suggest and implement changes in working conditions, and use of equipment to increase the efficiency, safety and quality of department and work crew
  • Act as Quality interface to resolve system, product, and design defects received at AHI
  • Prepare audit checklist and support internal audits of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory authorities and maintain external audit readiness
  • Ensure the implementation of customer and Type Design Holder requirements in the Quality Management System
  • Maintain working knowledge of quality standards (FAA, AS9100)
  • Create CAD drawings to support corrective actions

Your Boarding Pass: (Required for consideration)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Possess eight (8) or more years' technical experience in related engineering field or direct quality experience.
  • Experience as part of an operational team using and ideally building quality processes in a mature production environment
  • Costpoint and TIPQA knowledge or similar

Preferred Education/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Industrial or Quality Engineering
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • AS9100 Auditor
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certificate
  • Valid FAA A&P
  • Project management professional

Travel Required:

• 10% Domestic and International

Citizenship:
• Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Physical Requirements:
• Onsite or remote: 90% Onsite in Bingen except when on travel.
• Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily
• Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily
• Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools. Daily
• Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs/5kgs. Daily

• Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs/5kgs. Infrequently
• Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. As required.
• Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily
• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Occasionally
• Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily
• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Several times a year.
• Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
• Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site• Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.Salary range based on the required profile: $102k to $163k /year. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
