Job Summary

As the Business Controlling Manager, you will lead the FP&A, cost accounting, and operational expenditure (OPEX) functions for multiple legal entities in Japan. This pivotal role involves managing the financial health of both service-oriented and engineering-focused entities. You will act as a strategic partner to the business, ensuring seamless financial reporting to our Headquarters in France while driving performance across the APAC region.

Main Responsibilities

The job holder is responsible for the following tasks (but not limited), under the supervision of the Head of Finance:

1. Strategic Planning & Financial Analysis

  • AOP & Forecasting: Drive the Annual Operative Planning (AOP) process. Align stakeholders on key assumptions (Order Intake, Revenue, Profitability, FCF) and lead quarterly forecasts to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Performance Management: Deliver high-quality monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports. Provide root-cause analysis on variances and offer actionable guidance to KPI owners.
  • Executive Support: Assist the Head of Finance in preparing Board of Directors (BoD) and Executive Committee presentations.
  • Business Partnering: Develop complex business cases and scenario modeling to support strategic decision-making. Monitor business line profitability (MRO, training, logistics) and propose corrective measures.

2. Cost Accounting & Operational Excellence

  • Cost Management: Oversee standard cost setting for manufacturing products and services. Analyze Cost of Sales (COS) to provide strategic pricing advice to senior management.
  • Process Engineering: Constantly evaluate and re-engineer cost accounting methodologies to ensure high fidelity of financial information.
  • Systems Integration: Partner with Accounting and Financial Systems teams to maintain a robust cost accounting model within SAP (CO/PS).

3. Internal Control & Compliance

  • Policy Governance: Maintain and update accounting policies to ensure full compliance with IFRS and local standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor internal control processes, identify potential risks, and implement remediation actions to strengthen the control environment.

4. Leadership & People Development

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three experienced Controlling professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in Finance/Controlling, with a proven track record in a multinational environment.
  • Education: Strong background in Finance & Accounting; familiarity with IFRS and Japanese GAAP.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in people management.
  • Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in SAP (CO/PS modules) and Experience with BI tools (Fiori, Looker Studio) for reporting automation.
  • Languages: Full professional fluency in English and Japanese (essential for daily coordination with HQ and local stakeholders).
