
Job Description
The Solution Architect will be responsible for shaping pragmatic, scalable and secure solution designs across public cloud services, system integration, and web and mobile application architecture. The role will focus on server-side architecture, integration patterns, and the design of solutions that support business outcomes while aligning with technology standards, delivery needs and architectural governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and document solution architectures for web and mobile applications, with a particular focus on server-side architecture.
- Design solutions that make effective use of public cloud services and support scalable, secure and maintainable delivery.
- Shape integration approaches across systems, including synchronous and asynchronous integration architectures where appropriate.
- Work with stakeholders, engineering teams and delivery teams to translate business and technical requirements into clear solution designs.
- Provide architectural guidance throughout delivery, supporting design decisions, trade-offs and technical issue resolution.
- Contribute to architecture governance and assurance activities, ensuring solution designs align with agreed standards and principles.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and constraints, and support pragmatic decision-making to enable successful delivery.
- Collaborate across technical and business teams to ensure solutions are well understood, deliverable and aligned to intended outcomes.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience designing solutions using public cloud services.
- Strong understanding of system integration principles and patterns.
- Experience with web application architecture.
- Experience designing server-side architecture for web and mobile applications.
- Ability to translate business and technical requirements into clear, practical solution designs.
- Experience working with stakeholders and delivery teams to support solution delivery.
- Understanding of architectural governance, assurance and technical decision-making.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience with GCP services.
- Experience with Azure services.
- Knowledge of Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM).
- Experience with synchronous integration architectures.
- Experience with asynchronous integration architectures.
- Broader experience across web and mobile application architecture.

- Technical risks, dependencies and trade-offs are identified early and managed effectively.
- Solutions demonstrate strong alignment between business needs, technology standards and delivery feasibility.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a capable Solution Architect with strong experience across public cloud, system integration and web application architecture. They will be comfortable working across business and technical stakeholders, able to explain complex architectural decisions clearly, and focused on designing practical solutions that can be delivered effectively. They will bring a collaborative approach, sound technical judgement and the ability to balance strategic architecture direction with delivery realities.
Working arrangements
- This is a remote role, with an expectation to attend the Ty Admiral Cardiff office once per month or as and when required.
