Overview

We are looking for a Stat&Tax Finance Manager to join Africa Finance Team (managing Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Libya).

The Statutory & Tax Manager is responsible for timely and accurate completion of all statutory and tax filings, including the local statutory financial statements. Where applicable, the role involves training Finance and business stakeholders on tax or statutory requirements and working with external service providers such as Accenture, EY, or KMPG as well as external parties such as the external auditors or the tax authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying risks proactively and working with subsidiaries and ROC / Corp stakeholders to manage risks
  • Supporting business to land new business models / orgs from stat & tax perspective
  • Ensuring the below for all legal entities via community management of Stat & Tax subsidiary resources
  • Accountable for accurate stat records and timely annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, French GAAP and local statutory and tax regulation.
  • Review and sign off on balance sheet reconciliations + variance analysis.
  • Monitor, review, and oversee the Stat & Tax work of One Finance to ensure best ROI.
  • Where applicable, manage accounting ops to ensure financial report integrity and completeness.
  • Manage external auditor relationship. For Limited Risk Distribution subs (LRD’s), partner with the Center of Excellence at the Regional Operating Center to effectively manage the external audit.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely tax filings, including indirect taxes.
  • Where applicable, support & educate the business on tax model (LRD)
  • Support audits from local tax authorities or other government agencies.
  • Land global projects in the country of operation, as well as country-driven expansions, with proper financial infrastructure and statutory registration in compliance with local accounting, tax regulations as well as MS global processes.
  • Identify all non-standard management transactions (e.g. cross-charges, accruals, commission changes) and review their statutory implications before any decision to proceed
  • Communicate to the Corp Tax team any important changes in local tax legislation that could affect the MS business model (e.g. changes in local transfer pricing legislation)
  • Responsible to maintain local transfer pricing file in line with local legislation and in collaboration with Corp tax

Qualifications

  • Solid demonstratable and active experience in similar role Statutory Accounting, Controlling, Tax knowledge (including indirect taxes) BA/BS
    • or active experience in a simlar role and a MBA degree in Finance, Economics, CA/CPA
  • Fluent in English
