What will you be doing as our new Operations Liaison Lead (IOS)

Working within the Operational Interface team who represent both Water Recycling and Water operational leadership throughout the IOS capital delivery process, you’ll follow water schemes from the raising of a business need through options selection, outline and detailed design, construction & aftercare.

As a IOS Operational Liaison Lead you’ll contribute to ensuring that operational safety, operability and reliability are considered through the process, alongside contributing to ensuring that the capital delivery vehicle is able to deliver a financially and environmental sustainable solution that meets business need in a timely manner.

If successful, you’ll be assigned a set of schemes based on a combination of personal expertise, geographical relationship and business need, so that as a team Operations are appropriately represented throughout the capital process. Typically, the IOS Liaison leads will have portfolio of projects at different lifecycle stages and of varying complexity such as UMON, River Water Quality and Maintenance programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Safety in Design and Operation throughout the Capital Delivery Process

  • Promote and champion a safety focus in the development and delivery of capital projects

  • Represent AW Operations in Design, Construction, Commissioning & Aftercare

  • Represent AW operations throughout the capital project lifecycle including at outline design, detailed design, construction, commissioning & aftercare. Proactively gather operational views and liaise effectively with the project team, supporting the voice of operations throughout process. This will include regularly having a physical presence on site during the full project lifecycle to facilitate communication & identification of issues and the development of amicable resolutions

  • Continuous Improvement & Best Practise

  • Identify, organise and participate in visits to other sites/facilities outside across AW-region and beyond (with other water companies etc), as required, to ensure operational learning is understood and captured/recorded

  • Identify and support improvement opportunities, capturing these as appropriate through the lessons learned and asset standards processes

A little bit about your skills, experience, and behaviours….

  • Experience of managing the operation of water or water recycling assets on a day to day basis

  • Experience of the safe operation of hazardous waste/water treatment processes e.g. handling of chlorine gas, sludge treatment, DSEAR rated areas

  • Experience of facilitation, issue resolution & conflict management

  • Knowledge of AW assets standards & their application

  • Experience of the capital delivery process including some of: commercial awareness, milestone processes & project management

  • Technical understanding of some of: process design, mechanical/electrical/civil design, plant optimisation, plan maintenance, construction processes
