About this Role

We are seeking a collaborative Technical Leader to provide 1st Line technical expertise across software, hardware and telecom systems within Vodafone’s European network environment. The individual will support incident coordination, network troubleshooting, software development and optimisation activities across HFC, IP, DSL, GSM, UMTS and LTE networks. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced operational environments, enjoys solving complex technical issues and is motivated by ensuring seamless network performance for customers.

What you will do

  • Deliver technical services for Vodafone Group and partner networks, ensuring software and hardware solutions are implemented, developed, tested and optimised to meet operational standards.
  • Identify, diagnose and troubleshoot medium‑complexity network issues across HFC, IP, DSL, GSM, UMTS, LTE systems, escalating high‑complexity cases to upper support levels when needed.
  • Develop, adapt and implement customised telecom software solutions to resolve critical system malfunctions and improve application performance.
  • Configure, integrate and optimise network software parameters based on defined quality criteria and telecom programming methods.
  • Conduct preventive system checks and use dedicated software tools to identify and remediate latent software or hardware deficiencies.
  • Coordinate technical resources during incident resolution, ensuring clear communication between teams and delivering updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the performance of information systems and implement optimisation measures to enhance stability and efficiency.
  • Lead knowledge‑sharing sessions and deliver training to Computer Systems Engineers to build capability in telecom software development and adaptation.
  • Collaborate with vendors, 2nd Line teams and internal partners to ensure fast and effective incident closure.
  • Ensure all activities align with internal procedures, safety standards and quality requirements.

Who you are

  • Proficient in English and German, both written and spoken.
  • Strong technical expertise in operating systems, databases and telecom applications for mobile and fixed networks.
  • Demonstrated experience with HFC/DCA, IP and WDM technologies.
  • Higher technical education in Electronics and Telecommunications, Automation, Computers, Informatics or a related field.
  • Certifications from telecom system providers (Cisco, Oracle, HP, IBM, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, Alcatel etc.) are desirable.
  • Skilled in analysing, developing and adapting telecom software, with the ability to operate effectively during incident situations.
  • Collaborative, proactive and committed to maintaining high operational and safety standards.
