Based in Spain, you will work with technologies and network functions including SGSN, GGSN, MME, S/P-GW, AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF and 5G Standalone. In this role, you will develop technical specifications, support software testing and release delivery, contribute to new functionality and defect resolution, and help implement customer requirements across complex telecommunications environments. You will also support optimisation initiatives focused on Packet Core systems and services.

What you’ll do

  • Define hardware and software requirements for Packet Core platforms.
  • Support the design and delivery of Packet Core solutions across assigned Vodafone European networks.
  • Develop technical specifications that translate customer requirements into implementable solutions.
  • Build test cases and acceptance plans for new software and system capabilities.
  • Support software testing, acceptance and high-quality release delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of new Packet Core functions and the resolution of software defects.
  • Harmonise information packages, including MML commands, to meet customer requirements across different markets.
  • Support capacity planning and dimensioning for Packet Core systems.
  • Assist with the deployment and integration of hardware and software required to expand existing systems.
  • Analyse network requirements and contribute to optimisation initiatives involving SGSN, GGSN, MME, S/P-GW and 5G Standalone technologies.
  • Produce technical documents and presentations covering guidelines, system designs and implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with virtual teams and stakeholders across multiple countries.

Who you are

  • You hold a university degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or an equivalent discipline.
  • You have good knowledge of Packet Switched Data Core technologies and information systems.
  • You understand 3GPP Packet Core technologies, network functions and protocols.
  • You understand the software lifecycle, including design, development, testing, acceptance, implementation, performance optimisation and troubleshooting.
  • You have a broad awareness of telecommunications and ICT technologies.
  • You understand the relationships and dependencies between information systems.
  • You can work effectively within virtual and multinational teams.
  • You communicate clearly with customers and technical stakeholders from different markets.
  • You apply sound judgement and structured problem-solving when addressing technically complex requirements.
  • You can prepare clear technical specifications, design documentation, test cases and acceptance plans.

  • Exposure to established and emerging mobile core technologies, including 4G/EPC and 5G Standalone network functions.
  • Experience working in a multinational environment with virtual teams and customers across different markets.
  • Involvement throughout the technology lifecycle, from requirements and design through testing, acceptance, deployment and optimisation.
  • The opportunity to contribute to technically complex projects with a meaningful impact on network development and service delivery

What skills you will learn

  • Practical planning and engineering skills across Packet Core technologies.
  • Broader knowledge of SGSN, GGSN, MME, S/P-GW, AMF, SMF, UPF and NRF network functions.
  • Experience supporting 5G Standalone architecture and optimisation activities.
  • Advanced technical specification, capacity-planning and network-dimensioning capabilities.
  • Software testing, acceptance planning and release-delivery practices.
  • Cross-market stakeholder collaboration and customer-requirement management.
  • Methods for harmonising technical configurations and information packages across multiple networks.
  • End-to-end understanding of Packet Core solution design, integration, deployment and performance optimisation.
