Role Purpose/Business Unit:

The main objective of the Senior Specialist in 5G RAN Network Strategy and Optimisation is to orchestrate 5G network tactics and strategies aimed at increasing the efficiency and performance of our network and 5G RAN. The role also entails driving our data engineering strategy from a RAN perspective to improve network quality by optimising Radio Access Network (RAN). Functional tasks typically focus on enhancing NR and other Radio Access Technologies (GSM, WCDMA, LTE and other radio systems, for example, NB-IoT, WiFi, etc.) through modern approaches and best global practices, mainly in the RAN domain.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • 5G RAN Strategic Optimisation for NSA and SA
    • NR Feature and parameter evaluation leveraging Vodafone’s EWL program across both RAN vendors to ensure an optimised strategy.
    • Developing new best practices, processes, and guidelines for strategic network optimisation.
  • Data Engineering Champion: Champion our data engineering and machine learning approach to bring actional insights from numerous data sources.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Acts as a technical leader, guiding and mentoring specialists while coordinating with various departments to implement optimisation solutions seamlessly.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • 3-year degree/diploma in electronic engineering or telecommunications or equivalent or higher.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  • 5 to 8 years’ relevant work experience in telecoms industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience within Radio Planning and Optimisation (Essential).
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant 2G/3G/4G and 5G experience (inclusive of at least 4 years LTE experience) is essential, with 5G knowledge as an advantage.
  • Data Analytics competence with R or Python is essential, coupled with a strong understanding of 3GPP protocols and procedures are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Huawei and Nokia RAN solutions, features, parameters, and roadmaps are essential and preferred.
  • Automate processes using R Scripting to improve operational efficiency.
