About this Role

We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to join our Digital Operations teams and design, build, and continuously improve software solutions that enable Vodafone’s transformation into a truly digital telco. The individual will work at the heart of our DevOps team, taking ownership of the full software development lifecycle, implementing automation for operational processes, and contributing reusable Python libraries and algorithms. This role is ideal for an experienced Python engineer with strong systems architecture and database knowledge, who enjoys working in agile environments, collaborating with technology experts, and coaching others.

What you will do

  • Develop high-quality software using Python within a dynamic team that follows agile development practices.
  • Cover the full software lifecycle, from solution design and implementation through to production, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to streamline and optimise operational processes, supporting Vodafone’s digital transformation journey.
  • Develop Python libraries and efficient algorithms as reusable, generic building blocks for the team and wider organisation.
  • Coach and support other software developers, sharing best practices, reviewing code, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate closely with key technology experts across the organisation to align solutions with strategic and technical directions.
  • Work with the architecture team to design robust, scalable, and future-proof software solutions.
  • Shape and maintain the automation development environment, including Python libraries, virtual machines, and databases.
  • Use modern tools and practices for source control, continuous integration and delivery, and environment management (for example Git, Jenkins, Linux-based environments).

Who you are

  • You bring more than 3 years of practical experience in software development, with excellent programming skills in Python.
  • You have experience in project management and are comfortable coordinating and delivering work in complex environments.
  • You are familiar with agile software development methods and enjoy working in iterative, collaborative setups.
  • You possess extensive knowledge of systems architecture and databases.
  • You have hands-on experience with modern tools that support the software lifecycle (such as Git, Jenkins) and strong Linux knowledge.
  • You are curious about new techniques and interested in exploring cutting-edge methods and technologies.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on quality and reliability.
  • You are business fluent in English, both written and spoken.
