Role purpose

The Senior Executive Head of Digital & IT will manage and steer the evolution of the Digital IT platforms as a key enabler of the company’s business strategy. The role will ensure world class Digital IT platform fully aligned with Commercial strategies and demand. The role is also accountable to drive agile delivery of business capabilities and development of differentiating software functions.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

• The Executive Head of Digital & IT will be responsible for all IT related platforms serving, but not limited to, Mobile, Fixed and Mobile-Money.
• Develops and delivers Business Driven IT strategy, projects planning, and projects delivery and technical direction by translating Vodacom business and Group technology strategy for all IT functions.
• Develop DB and LRP budget planning and execution.
• Deliver efficient and scalable IT architectures and designs aligned with Vodafone/Vodacom Group and local Technical Standards and Policies
• Introduction of new IT technologies and solutions in collaboration and alignment with local and Group technology strategy functions (RFPs, Proof of Value, etc) that deliver value and efficiency to business
• Develops and communicates commercially viable business plans, targets and budgets
• Agile and PI based development of new and enhancement of existing business capabilities (products, services, processes, etc) through configuration of logic and/or software development.
• Development and implementation of CI/CD production platforms aligned with Group strategy with focus on digital transformation
• Projects delivery for the modernization/swaps of IT legacy platforms.
• Manage IT Operations (L1/L2) and any IT related incidents.
• Manager of managers. Lead and manage the team through development of objectives and targets for performance and career development.

Core competencies, knowledge and Experience:

• 15+ years management experience in an ICT environment, of which at least 8 years in a leadership capacity, and closely with Business.
• Ability to translate product and operational strategies in a vision and roadmap for Digital IT
• Effective management of a complex organization of professionals and other stakeholders (vendors) providing leadership, problem solving and fast decision making.
• Deep knowledge of Digital IT architectures.
• Ability to build and maintain a strong team with the right expertise and qualities.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic business environment.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:


• University Degree in Telecom and / or IT as a minimum
• MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years in IT leadership roles
• Leading SAFE framework certification (optional)
