Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Sr. DevOps Engineer is a core member of the agile team implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery solutions.
They collaborate with solutions architect and technical engineers to ensure streamlined application
implementation that is aligned with the business needs and developing implementation
costs and timelines.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

• Evaluating business needs and providing recommendations on application designs, analysing design specifications and validating them with technical development SPOCS.

• Collaborate with the solution architect and Engineering teams to Provide high level assessment for new tools/functionalities and ensure it is aligned with overall business needs.

• System integration and implementation of Kubernetes, Docker and APIGEE

• Full responsibility of migration and upgrading to new releases

• Collaborate with the Engineering Lead to ensure needed POC’s are conducted.

• Communicating design overviews and initial implementation plans to executive and technical SPOCS.

• Update the technical documentation and the team knowledge base

• Maintaining the availability of the applications and their hosted servers (on both UNIX and Windows platforms)

• Troubleshooting and fixing database related issues.

• Performing all possible technical troubleshooting steps to solve the incidents and service requests

• Utilizing the existing team applications and tools (knowledge base, Documentation database, Handbook) to solve the incidents

• Consulting with Vendor as appropriate

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or a related subject

• Experience of working on projects that span multi-disciplinary areas of differing size and complexity to meet business expectations and deliver results

• Confident and able to liaise and influence at all levels within Vodafone and/or relevant customer organizations

• Able to communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context

• Understands business requirements, Drives improvements and process innovation

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Experience with designing end-to-end CI/CD Pipeline using Git, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.
• Experience with Infrastructure as code technologies preferably terraform.
• Containerization experience especially with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Real hands-on experience on at least one of Cloud providers: GCP, AWS, Azure.
• Solid Knowledge in IT infrastructure basics: Linux/Unix Administration, Networking (VPC, VPN, TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, DNS, Proxy), SSO, etc.
• Kubernetes
• Docker
• Jira, Confluence and GitHub
• Micro services architecture
• Nexus, SonarQube are highly preferable
• AWS is a Plus
• UNIX/Linux administration
• Technical knowledge in IT infrastructure technologies (DNS, Proxy) and connectivity techniques
• Software or Web development skills are plus.
• Remedy background is a plus
• ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
• Very Good Knowledge in Cloud infrastructure Preferable GCP and AWS.
• Very Good knowledge in DevOps tool stack (e.g., Ansible, GitHub, Chef)
