Role Purpose/Business Unit:

The Programme Manager is responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with Business Units Executives and Senior Executives across Vodacom South Africa to drive the implementation of the programme's strategy. This involves interfacing with all areas for the prioritization, development, and delivery of projects, as well as resolving priority conflicts with relevant Executive Heads and Managing Executives. The role involves analysing the special project strategy, defining projects to deliver against the strategy, managing and implementing a prioritization of related projects, and ensuring all projects are sufficiently resourced. The Programme Manager also monitors all projects with respective business units and project managers to ensure the achievement of deliverables and revenue objectives. Lastly, the role includes providing inspirational leadership to the team, ensuring they have clear priorities and direction, and are aligned to be successful.

Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic Initiatives: Develop initiatives to achieve strategic goals, such as network expansion or new service offerings. Use customer insights to identify and evaluate strategic and innovative revenue generating projects initiatives and pathways for route-to-market to support the execution of Wholesale and Carrier services sales strategy in respective portfolio
Project Management: Oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively to support strategic initiatives.
Performance Monitoring: Track progress using business KPIs and adjust strategies as needed.
Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that could impact strategy execution. Support revenue assurance initiatives
Effectively manage function and its objectives in line with approved budgets, report variances as required and recommend / implement remedial action within span of control
Assess expenditure and resolve gaps
Review and authorize payments in line with approved budget, policy and submit for final processing
Ensure identification, implementation and development of processes to optimise cost efficiency
Accurate OPEX planning, integration and management of budget forecasts
Build and maintain professional relationships with all Business Unit Executives and Senior Executives across the business to drive the implementation of the specific programme`s strategy
Provide specialised and technical support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives
Interface with all areas for the prioritization, development, delivery of projects and resolve priority conflicts with all relevant Executive Heads and Managing Executives
Manage and implement a prioritization of related projects by ensuring all projects are sufficiently resourced
Monitor all projects with the respective business units & project managers to ensure achievement of all the deliverables and business revenue objectives
Manage delivery scheduled for the projects to ensure timeous delivery and compliance with the requirements
Develop a programme dashboards per project including the overall programme
Oversee the activities of the team to ensure effective delivery of business outcomes.
Supports and enables the team to succeed by encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members amongst other enablement initiatives.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Matric plus 3 or 4-year Engineering Technology or related degree
8+ years of relevant work experience in the telecoms market
Expertise in mobile network infrastructure and commercial arrangements
Experience of complex commercial negotiations
Experience in design and deployment of network sharing technologies
Expert knowledge of MOCN & MORAN technologies
Mobile bearer technologies as defined by 3GPP/IETF/GSMA including 5G and newer technologies
National and international Roaming
Transmission & Managed Network
Experience in vendor management, and contract negotiations

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

Strategic mind set and out of box thinking
Experience in solution selling within Wholesale & Carrier customers
Deep understanding of the customer’s business, it’s market and industry alongside key decision-makers and influencers in account organisation
Ability to translate customer’s objectives and strategy into relevant Wholesale propositions
Experience working in multinational matrix organisation
