Role Purpose/Business Unit:

As part of the commercial playbook pricing governance is one of the key pillars to ensure we are relevant and competitive from a mark to market perspective.

As a Pricing and CVM Manager, the responsibilities would include analysing market trends, competition, and customer behaviour to develop effective pricing strategies. You would support pricing across the Vodacom Business (VB) & Consumer Fixed suite of products and services ensuring profitability while remaining competitive. The VB suite includes mobile, fixed, cloud hosting & security, IoT and managed services. Specific focus would be placed on value proposition pricing, bundle solution pricing, and business-specific customer value management (CVM). As this is a Group-based role, you will support markets across Vodacom’s footprint, with a deeper focus on the International Business (IB) markets. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, conducting pricing research, and implementing pricing models are integral aspects of the role. Additionally, monitoring industry changes and adjusting pricing strategies accordingly to optimize revenue and customer satisfaction would be part of your responsibilities.

This would require engagement with the OpCo product teams and other cross functional stakeholders.

  • Customer & market knowledge to Support OpCo and integrate optimal pricing with propositions
  • Work on analytics for pricing and Commercial insight generation
  • Align pricing analytics and actuarial towards supporting value propositions
  • Have a robust understating of competitor pricing moves to keep our strategic pricing accurate across markets.
  • Analyse and benchmark internal performance and commercial data across OpCo for tracking of actions and commercial moves

Your responsibilities will include:

Pricing Governance:

  • Price Strategy: Developing and implementing effective pricing strategies and frameworks, tailored to enterprise and IB market needs, in order to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Market Analysis: Analyzing market trends, competitor pricing, and customer behavior to make informed pricing decisions.
  • In-market support: Support local markets in building dynamic pricing and business-specific CVM capabilities
  • Profitability Analysis: Assessing the impact of pricing changes on overall profitability and recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with sales, marketing, and finance teams to align pricing strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Group best practice: Leverage existing group pricing and CVM infrastructure, optimizing it for the business segment. Act as a center of excellence, driving best practices, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement across markets
  • Competitive Positioning: Ensuring Vodacom’s enterprise suite of products and services are competitively priced while maintaining value perception.
  • Data Analysis: Utilizing data analytics to derive insights, track performance, and make data-driven pricing decisions.
  • Price Optimization: Implementing pricing optimization tools and methodologies to enhance pricing processes and effectiveness.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Staying informed about industry regulations and ensuring pricing strategies comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Communication: Effectively communicating pricing decisions and strategies to internal stakeholders and, at times, to customers.
  • Overall, the Pricing Manager will play a crucial role in balancing profitability, market competitiveness, and customer satisfaction through strategic pricing decisions.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • University Degree or equivalent in a Commercial, Finance or discipline (postgraduate preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in applying data and insight to customer focused business problems
  • Able to solve problems in complex situations
  • Strong technical, analytical and statistical competencies required
  • Ability to build and present business case to non-technical audience
  • Strong project management skills

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  • Detailed understanding of governance and decision making across the business
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building
  • Working knowledge of the fundamentals of financial analysis and budget process
  • Thorough understanding of the ICT Market and in particular, Telecommunications products, services, technologies and business processes
  • Strong business acumen at Executive level
