About this Role

We are seeking a technically skilled professional to provide 2nd Line support for live telecommunications information systems used by Vodafone operating companies and joint ventures. This role focuses on ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of complex telecom applications and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on the administration and maintenance of Cisco Unified Communications Manager and integrated third‑party applications. The individual will work closely with internal teams and managed service partners to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet agreed service levels.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver 2nd Line technical support for live telecom information systems across mobile and fixed networks.
  • Analyse, develop, test, and modify software and hardware solutions to meet quality and response time requirements.
  • Design, develop, and adapt customised software solutions within defined telecom frameworks.Identify and remediate software and hardware deficiencies of high complexity within operator networks.
  • Configure, integrate, and optimise network software parameters in line with defined quality standards.
  • Test software packages and applications in test environments and deploy validated solutions into production.
  • Perform emergency remediation through software or hardware reconfiguration using telecom‑specific methods.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical incidents escalated from 1st Line, COPS, and SAC teams, providing permanent remediation.
  • Monitor and evaluate system performance, carrying out preventive checks to identify latent issues.
  • Manage customer and 1st Line work orders through the ticketing system, including SLA monitoring and reporting, in collaboration with managed service partners.

Who you are

  • Experienced with operating systems, databases, and telecom‑specific applications (e.g. Microsoft systems, Linux, Cisco IOS, VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter).
  • Familiar with network technologies and protocols such as SIP, H.323, TCP/IP, and SNMP.Bring 1–2 years of relevant experience in a technical telecom or IT support environment.
  • Hold completed higher education, preferably in a technical discipline such as Electronics and Telecommunications, Automation, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Willing to undergo a German security clearance (sabotage protection check).
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills, with a collaborative and service‑oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • German language nice to have

  • Advanced troubleshooting and debugging techniques for high‑availability telecom systems.
  • Deeper expertise in Cisco Unified Communications Manager and integrated third‑party applications.

  • Practical experience in preventive maintenance and performance optimisation of live networks.
