About this Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically curious professional to join our Network Operations team as a 1st Line Support Engineer. In this role, you will provide technical support for live telecommunications IT systems used by Vodafone operating companies and joint ventures. You will contribute to the monitoring, troubleshooting, optimisation, testing, and implementation of software and hardware solutions across fixed and mobile telecom environments. The role offers exposure to technologies including GPON, FTTH, networking, databases, operating systems, and telecommunications applications, while working within a collaborative international environment.
What you’ll do
Provide 1st Line technical support for live telecommunications IT systems and applications.
Monitor, investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software and hardware incidents affecting telecom services.
Implement and support software enhancements, configurations, and new functionalities.
Perform testing activities in non-production and production environments to ensure service quality and stability.
Identify faults in GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G, fixed network, and telecom applications and support their resolution.
Configure, integrate, and optimise network software parameters according to defined quality standards.
Carry out preventive maintenance checks and system health assessments using dedicated software tools.
Analyse performance issues and support optimisation initiatives across telecom systems and applications.
Escalate complex incidents to senior technical teams when required, ensuring service level commitments are maintained.
Collaborate with Customer Operations, Service Desk, and technical stakeholders to deliver timely issue resolution.
Support emergency recovery activities through software or hardware reconfiguration when necessary.
Follow internal procedures, policies, security standards, and operational governance requirements.
Who you are
Degree in a relevant technical field such as Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, Automation, or a related discipline.
Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Additional European language skills would be advantageous.
Understanding of operating systems, databases, and IT applications.
Knowledge of telecommunications technologies and networking concepts.
Familiarity with GPON, FTTH, and networking technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
Willingness to participate in shift schedules, including nights, weekends, or on-call support when required.
Collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and service excellence.
