Position: Specialist: IT Network Operations
Reporting To: Manager: IT Operations
Department: Billing and Information Technology
Job Purpose
To support the IT Network Infrastructure, maintains it and manages its evolution.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensures the Network infrastructure and services are running optimally and securely
- Configures, tests, and deploys Network elements such as routers, switches etc
- Network troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Application of configuration changes via our change control systems and processes
- Deployment and maintenance of network monitoring, analysis and reporting tools
- Day-to-day network performance monitoring
- Supports and maintains Load balancers
- Supports and maintains Access Control System
- Support and maintenance of CCTV
- Patches network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties
- Documents the design, update changes and processes
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent in IT/Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification.
- Cyber Security Certification
- Fortinet Certified Professional: Security Operations Certification
- At least 2 years or more working within a Telecommunication Sector
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies
- Ability to operate network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, transmission media, and related hardware
- Knowledge of communication methods, principles, and concepts (e.g., crypto, dual hubs, time multiplexers) that support the network infrastructure
Skills
- Skill in configuring and utilizing network protection components (e.g., Firewalls, VPNs, network intrusion detection systems)
- Excellent Interpersonal skills
