What you’ll do

The Fiber Network Optimization & Rollout Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing fibre optic networks to ensure high-speed, reliable, and cost-effective broadband services. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with technical teams and vendors, and continuous performance enhancement of fibre infrastructure. The engineer ensures high-quality network performance and reliability using advanced technologies and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage fiber rollout projects from design to implementation, ensuring compliance with technical standards, budgets, and timelines.
  • Oversee field installation activities, coordinating with contractors and internal teams to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize fibre network performance to enhance reliability, minimize latency, and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform network traffic analysis, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing fiber routing and capacity for enhanced throughput and reliability.
  • Tune fiber network parameters to improve signal strength, minimize latency, and ensure maximum network efficiency.
  • Implement best practices for performance monitoring, fault detection, and troubleshooting across fiber optic systems.
  • Conduct thorough network testing using tools like OTDR and spectrum analysers to validate performance, signal strength, and network integrity.
  • Identify and resolve installation issues, including signal degradation, faults, and other network impairments.

Who you are

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Computer knowledge, drawing and Planning software used (AutoCAD, Visio, GIS System);
  • Strong understanding of the design of Copper & Fibre networks.
  • Analytical thinking, collaboration and communication skills, adaptability skills.
  • Availability to travel where and when needed.
  • Driving license
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong knowledge of fixed access network technologies, protocols, and standards, such as Ethernet, DSL, GPON, DOCSIS, Wi-Fi, and VoIP.
  • Extensive experience in FTTH network implementation, migration & operations.
  • Experienced in fiber deployment, including splicing and test, preferably in a FTTH/FTTP environment.
  • Ability to translate fiber designs and implementation splicing schedules.
