Your Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipeline Engineering: You design, build, test, deploy, and support scalable data pipelines across a modern cloud-based data platform, with a strong emphasis on GCP-based engineering patterns and cost-efficient cloud service utilization.

  • BigQuery Optimization: You build and optimize robust data solutions around BigQuery as our core analytical data platform, developing performant transformation logic, structured datasets, and reusable engineering components.

  • Ingestion & Messaging Integration: You implement end-to-end data ingestion, integration, and event-driven or streaming patterns utilizing cloud technologies like Pub/Sub and Kafka-based integration concepts.

  • Orchestration & Workflow Automation: You develop and maintain orchestration workflows for reliable data processing in cloud-native environments, applying sound data modeling and storage design principles for analytical consumption.

  • Stakeholder & AI Enablement Collaboration: You collaborate closely with GCP Architects, analytics, and AI stakeholders to prepare fit-for-purpose analytical datasets, ensuring effective handover into Power BI data models or future AI-enabled use cases.

  • Quality Assurance & Governance: You ensure high engineering quality, traceability, and observability across the engineered data landscape through structured testing, versioning, documentation, monitoring, and production support, while guiding internal and external delivery contributors on data engineering best practices.

Your Profile:

  • Educational Background: University degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, data, or a related field (equivalent practical experience is also accepted).

  • Professional Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in cloud-based data engineering with a proven track record of building, optimizing, and operating scalable data pipelines in complex, agile, and multinational environments.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Required: Advanced SQL skills and strong programming capabilities (ideally Python or Java). Deep understanding of BigQuery-centric data engineering, cloud-native ETL/ELT orchestration, and messaging patterns (Pub/Sub). Solid comprehension of data modeling and structural preparation for downstream Power BI consumption.

    • Nice to have: Exposure to Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies. Foundational AI literacy (classic ML and GenAI) and practical exposure to AI/GenAI use cases, including a pragmatic understanding of how AI-assisted engineering methods can accelerate development and testing productivity.

  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and ownership skills. You possess a collaborative, customer-centric mindset and the ability to act as a bridge between target architecture and practical engineering delivery.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent English (C1 level), both written and spoken.

At Vantage Towers we operate in 8 different European countries. This role will be based in Lisbon.
