About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build and support scalable, cloud‑native data solutions on Google Cloud Platform. This role sits within the Data & Analytics Shared Services function and contributes to critical enterprise data platforms, enabling high‑quality analytics, reporting and data‑driven decision‑making across Vodafone markets.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop and optimise complex SQL and PL/SQL queries within Google BigQuery environments.
  • Build, deploy and maintain cloud‑based data pipelines and services using GCP tools including Data Fusion, Cloud Functions, App Engine and Cloud Run.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers and analytics teams to process, store and transform large‑scale datasets using BigQuery and Cloud Storage.
  • Apply best practices for performance optimisation, data security, reliability and scalability of cloud applications.
  • Create unit tests, technical documentation and reusable components to ensure maintainable and high‑quality solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across production environments, ensuring minimal service disruption.
  • Support cloud‑native development initiatives aligned to enterprise data and analytics strategies.

Who you are

  • You bring 5–9 years of relevant experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles.
  • You have strong hands‑on expertise in SQL and PL/SQL, with proven experience using Google BigQuery.
  • You are familiar with GCP services such as Data Fusion, Cloud Storage and cloud‑native application components.
  • You understand data warehousing concepts, database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data processing frameworks.
  • You are analytical, proactive and comfortable working in complex, large‑scale system environments.
  • You communicate clearly in written and spoken English and collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
