Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities

Role purpose:

  • The key purpose of the Credit Controller is to ensure that postpaid contract debtors for assigned portfolios pay outstanding bills within specified payment terms or periods to minimize risk of bad debt while maintaining good customer relationships and adhering to credit policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review customers credit status as per credit policies and procedures to predetermine and identify bad debt and take appropriate actions.
  • Contact customers with overdue invoices and payments and implement collection procedures as necessary.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with customers to encourage timely payments and respond to customer queries regarding their credit status or otherwise on a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely allocation of cash.
  • Ensure timely reporting or escalation of any invoice or payment issues to Management or appropriate Team for timely resolution.
  • Ensure disputed debt is reconciled and resolved on time as per service level agreement.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy and timely submission of reports and provide relevant insights to Management.
  • Ensure compliance with credit polices and procedures and other governance guidelines/regulations.

Qualification, Knowledge, Core Competencies, Knowledge and Experience

• Degree In Business Administration or any related field.
• Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of credit management principles and practices.
• Experience in the telecommunications or bank industry.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to credit and collections.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Interpersonal skills – able to communicate effectively and to work with various stakeholders.
• Flexibility – able to adapt and adjust to new situations or changes positively.
