Role Purpose

The Commercial Product Owner is a leadership role within the Consumer Mobile team, accountable for the commercial performance and Go To Market strategy of Vodafone Mobile across Bill Pay, SIM Only, Convergence and PAYG.

The role is responsible for end-to-end management of the mobile P&L, identifying and mitigating commercial risks, unlocking growth opportunities and ensuring delivery of revenue, customer and profitability targets. The successful candidate will lead annual planning, forecasting and trading processes, while shaping and executing the go-to-market strategy through market-leading pricing, propositions, promotions and product launches.

As a key member of the Consumer Mobile Leadership Team, the Commercial Product Owner will provide commercial insight, strategic direction and performance leadership to ensure Vodafone maintains its market-leading position in Ireland

What you’ll do

Key Accountabilities:

Commercial Performance & P&L Management

  • Own the Consumer Mobile commercial P&L, ensuring delivery of revenue, customer, ARPU, churn and profitability targets.
  • Monitor trading performance across acquisition, retention, migration and value management.
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities and develop corrective action plans to deliver commercial objectives.
  • Lead weekly trading reviews, providing clear performance insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive data-led decision making through robust commercial analysis and performance reporting.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure accurate financial management and performance tracking.

Strategic Planning & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting and planning process for Consumer Mobile.
  • Develop quarterly reforecasts and scenario plans to ensure performance remains on track.
  • Create long-term commercial growth plans aligned to Vodafone Ireland's strategic ambitions.
  • Translate strategic priorities into measurable commercial deliverables and actionable marketing plans
  • Act as SPOC into Devices team to lead on commercial decisions re handsets and marketing activity.
  • Support Propositions and Product Teams with Executive and Board-level business cases, investment decisions and growth initiatives.

Go-to-Market Strategy

  • Own the annual and quarterly Go-to-Market (GTM) roadmap for Consumer Mobile.
  • Define commercial strategies across pricing, promotions, customer offers and portfolio management.
  • Work with Mobile Proposition & Product POs to brief insight led propositions and tactical campaigns into Brand Team to deliver commercial targets.
  • Lead GTM launches for all new propositions, products and services including tactical propositions and handset offers.
  • Ensure all GTM activity supports customer growth, retention, value management and competitive differentiation.
  • Continuously evaluate market, customer and competitor dynamics to optimise commercial performance.

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Act as the primary commercial interface across Finance, Devices, Consumer Marketing, Digital, CVM, Sales, Retail, Customer Operations and Strategy teams.Influence senior stakeholders to align around commercial priorities and growth opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with Group Product and Commercial teams to leverage best practice and innovation.
  • Represent Consumer Mobile in leadership forums, trading reviews and strategic planning discussions
  • Responsible for people management of the Commercial/GTM creating an environment where your team has clear direction, accountability and opportunities to grow.

Who you are

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Essential

  • Significant commercial marketing leadership experience within telecommunications, technology, media or subscription-based businesses.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale P&Ls and delivering commercial growth.
  • Strong financial and analytical capability with experience in budgeting, forecasting and business case development.
  • Experience developing and executing pricing, proposition and go-to-market strategies.
  • Strong understanding of customer economics, acquisition, retention and value management levers.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent commercial judgement with the ability to balance short-term performance and long-term value creation.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with experience engaging executive-level audiences.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, building capability, setting direction and prioritisating and influencing senior stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience within a mobile telecommunications environment.
  • Understanding of consumer mobile customer journeys and digital channels.
  • Experience launching new products, services or commercial propositions.
  • Knowledge of Irish telecommunications market dynamics.
