What you’ll do

Team and Project Management
• Directly manage a team of big data engineers, overseeing task allocation, performance evaluation, and career development.
• Coordinate with vendor resources (external service providers), manage contracts, and evaluate vendor performance.
• Own resource planning, budget forecasting, and monitoring for Big Data projects, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
Strategy and Technical Roadmap
• Define Big Data solution strategies aligned with organizational objectives and develop a clear roadmap.
• Actively contribute to data architecture and solution designs, ensuring technical accuracy and feasibility.
Data Processing and Application Engineering
• Design and deliver high-performance, stable applications to process petabyte-scale data workloads.
• Implement real-time data streaming and processing solutions, building systems integrated with business applications.
Data Quality, Security and Management
• Develop and manage pipelines to source, transform, validate, and prepare datasets for analytics and machine learning.
• Enforce principles of data quality, cataloging, metadata management, and data security across platforms.
Stakeholder and Communication Management
• Maintain continuous communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency on progress, risks, and deliverables.
• Proactively identify project risks and issues, and design effective mitigation and improvement plans.

Who you are

• BS degree or higher in a technology-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering).
• Minimum 10+ years overall experience in building and leading data-driven solutions and frameworks.
• Minimum 5+ years experience in designing, building, managing, and leading applications to process large volumes of data in a data lakehouse ecosystem (e.g., Spark, Hive/Impala, HBase, Yarn, iceberg, trino).
• Strong software development experience in Python, Java, or Scala (other programming languages are a plus).
• Experience building real-time data processing systems using Spark Streaming, Kafka, Flink, Storm, or similar technologies.
• Experience with relational database modeling and processing (SQL, Postgres, Oracle, MySQL).
• Experience with distributed technologies like Cassandra, Solr/Elasticsearch, Flume, or similar systems.
• Experience with Linux/Unix systems and related operational concepts.
• Experience with workflow and pipeline management tools (Apache Airflow, Luigi, NiFi) is desirable.
• Practical experience with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or AI-based analytics frameworks is a plus.
• Proven ability to build end-to-end applications leveraging large volumes of operational data to produce actionable insights.
• Knowledge of Cloud and hybrid deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of data quality, data governance, and security principles.
• Exposure to Telco business domain or similar large-scale operational environments is preferred.
• Proven experience managing technical teams of 5+ members, including recruitment, performance management, and career development.
• Experience in budget management, resource planning, and capacity forecasting for multiple projects.
• Experience leading complex technical projects across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with functional, budgetary, and timeline goals.
• Ability to manage daily operations, project deliverables, and overall platform lifecycle.
• Strong coordination with multiple stakeholders, steering committees, and executive leadership for critical decision-making.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and external service providers to deliver project objectives.
• Ability to implement agile methodologies and coordinate cross-functional teams for efficient delivery.
• Familiarity with corporate IT governance standards and implementation recommendations (e.g., Vodafone Group or similar large enterprise environment).
