Job Description

Join Us

At Vodafone, we’re not just shaping the future of connectivity for our customers – we’re shaping the future for everyone who joins our team. When you work with us, you’re part of a global mission to connect people, solve complex challenges, and create a sustainable and more inclusive world. If you want to grow your career whilst finding the perfect balance between work and life, Vodafone offers the opportunities to help you belong and make a real impact. As a Digital Innovation Back-End Developer, you will join a cross-functional and multicultural team within Vodafone Network Operations, contributing to the development of innovative digital products, web and mobile applications, automations and services supporting European Network Operations. You will play a key role in Vodafone’s digital transformation, creating reliable and scalable solutions that simplify processes, improve efficiency and deliver tangible business value. Working across the full product lifecycle, from requirements and solution design to development, testing and deployment, you will take ownership of your solutions, collaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders, and help drive high-quality development standards and best practices across our digital ecosystem.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain high-quality Back-End digital solutions, services and reusable components supporting web and mobile applications;
  • Drive continuous improvements across our digital products, with a focus on performance, reliability, security, scalability and maintainability;
  • Participate in requirements analysis, technical design and solution definition for new business needs and product evolutions;
  • Develop solutions based on modern Back-End architectures, including microservices, APIs and web services, ensuring effective integration with Front-End applications and enterprise systems;
  • Design, develop and maintain system integrations, enabling reliable and secure data exchange between applications, services and internal/external enterprise platforms;
  • Ensure code quality through appropriate testing, code reviews and adherence to development standards and engineering best practices;
  • Contribute to defining, sharing and continuously improving Back-End development and system integration standards, coding guidelines and best practices across the team;
  • Work within Agile delivery frameworks, actively contributing to planning, refinement, development and delivery activities;
  • Embrace a continuous delivery approach across development, integration, testing and deployment, leveraging CI/CD practices and automation;
  • Troubleshoot application and integration issues, contributing to the continuous improvement, reliability and evolution of existing digital products and services;
  • Stay up to date with emerging Back-End and system integration technologies, frameworks, architectural patterns and development practices, assessing their potential value and applicability to our digital ecosystem.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience;
  • 5+ years of Back-End development experience, ideally within complex enterprise environments and large-scale digital solutions;
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript and JavaScript (ES6+), building modern, scalable and reliable Back-End services;
  • Solid experience with microservices, REST APIs, web services and system integration, connecting applications and distributed enterprise platforms;
  • Experience delivering solutions in cloud-based environments, using containerisation, orchestration and CI/CD pipelines;
  • Strong understanding of secure development practices, API security, authentication, authorisation and data protection;
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration and API testing, combined with a strong focus on software quality and maintainability;
  • Good command of Git and modern development ecosystems, including package management, build and code-quality tools;
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle, working in Agile environments such as Scrum and/or SAFe;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ownership, attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset;
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional and multicultural teams, engaging effectively with both technical and business stakeholders;
  • Fluent English (C1), written and spoken.
