What you’ll do

Role purpose:
This position is based in Maputo and reports directly to the Manager Margin Accounting. The position is responsible for ensure all Direct expenses are accounted accurately including Bad Debt Provision in accordance with Vodafone Group Policy and IFRS.


Key Accountabilities:

1. Financial month-end process for the Revenue & Direct expenditure including:
• Ensuring accurate recognition of revenue (and revenue share) as well as completeness and accuracy of costs recognised (Acquisitions, commissions etc).
• Calculation review of ECL & Bad Debt provision in line with IFRS9.
• Ensuring accurate accounting for direct cost provisions.
• Accounting entries review and approval.
• Ensuring accurate S15 contract asset capitalization and amortization including indirect channels.
• Preparation of half-year and year-end Assessment review for IFRS 9 & 15.
• Manual Journals Review.
• Ensuring of Interconnect accounting processes (AR & AP) and confirmations (for intercompany).

2. Providing comprehensive commentary for month-end results to be used during the WD2 and WD3 reviews of the P&L with the FD, HoFo and Finance Executives.

3. Preparation of accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations in line with Vodafone requirements for accounts under your control and ensuring timeous clearance of reconciling and aged items.

4. Fulfillment of finance operational tasks including:
• Ensuring correct and timeous allocations of cash receipts.
• Ensuring accurate and timeous allocation of Payments from Customers/to Vendors.
• Ad-hoc resolution of queries and issues from internal and external customers including internal and external auditors.
• Support Vodacom Business Partners with new projects or improvements to be implemented.


What we are looking in you:

• Advanced Degree in Marketing, Finance, Computer Science (or or experience) or experience required.
• Experience in IFRS interpretation as well as practical application within business.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in Finance, specifically telecommunications.
• Attention to detail.
• Deadline adherence.
• Integrity.
• Communication skills.
• Problem solving.
• Knowledge of General Accounting practices, IFRS and PGC NIRF.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• SAP knowledge is essential.
