Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon, full-time. Surgical bias. Salary up to £65,000

Are you looking for a role where you can utilise your skills, with a focus on surgery? Is being part of a supportive team important to you? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you at Llanelli Vets for Pets.

About us
We are a hardworking but fun team of 4 vets, 5 experienced nurses and 4 Receptionists. We put emphasise on working as a team and truly supporting each other. We have a practice ethos of the animals always coming first which our clients testify to
"Caring, informative and professional"
"They really care about animals and go that extra mile for both you and your pets"
"The best vets I have taken my dogs to" Our clients love us, and we think you will too!"

Your day
All non-routine appointments are 20 minutes, and routine appointments are 15 minutes. We have 1 hour lunch breaks that are fully paid as we know emergencies occasionally happen (although this is rare!). Everyone is paid for 30 minutes after the practice officially closes so we leave on time or early!

We know that being a vet must fit around all the other parts of life that are important, so we are open to you working shifts that truly suit you. We are ideally looking for full time hours to include1 in 4 weekends, Saturday 9am – 5:30pm and Sunday 10:30am – 4pm and with no out of hours.

The practice
Our practice is ideally located on the busy Parc Trostre Retail Park in Llanelli, within a Pets at Home store, meaning we have a loyal client base and a varied caseload. No two days are the same here!

The surgery is built to industry leading standards and has state of the art equipment including digital radiography, ultrasound and in-house lab.

About you
We’re looking for a good all round GP vet, ideally with a bias towards surgery although this is not essential to apply. You’ll be personable with excellent communication skills being able to build a rapport with our clients as well as supporting your colleagues. We work best by discussing cases, sharing opinions and expertise and supporting each other in practice.

Sharing our passion and commitment for high standards, will ensure you thrive within this role. With a confident and capable approach, the team would love someone who could bring new ideas and ambition to the team, as they are always looking for ways to improve.

The benefits
By joining us, we can offer you:

  • Career development opportunities
  • Excellent salary up to £65k FTE, depending on experience
  • 5.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays, and after 2 years you get an extra week
  • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, VDA, BVA)
